Star Shines in Sure Will

The hard closing Wassie’s Star G easily found her footing in the Sure Will Cap. Wassie found herself leaving the gate slowly and quickly became the trailer. Jockey Stivers started maneuvering her around her rivals just past the midway point and set her loose as the field hit the stretch. Wassie dug in deep and was able to get to the wire first, taking her 6th win in her last 8 starts. Wassie was my third choice in a field that offered several horses a reasonable shot at the winners circle.

Theory of Love sat well off the pace early on and was able to briefly take the lead through the stretch. It was so brief, if you blinked you missed it. Theory captured the second spot.

Urban Quest was able to capture the third spot. Urban ran just off the early pace and put in a nice effort but was overpowered by Wassie’s Star G and Theory of Love.

High Zafonic didn’t figure to put in the race she did. She ran commendably holding the second spot for most of the race before she gave way and picked up the forth place check.

Alberta Fire, who was my top choice, was disappointing. She trailed early on by over 9 lengths and never fired up finishing fifth, 6 lengths away from the wire.

A P Infinity ran on the front end of the field and tired out ending up sixth.

Nook Queen, my second choice, made a late move from the rear of the pack. I believe she moved too late and had too much traffic to contend with resulting in the disappointing 7th spot.

Dangerpoint ran flat and finished a flat eigth.

Pressure Drop took up good positioning early in the forth spot but just ran out of energy and dropped back to ninth.

Babes In Toyland, as expected, turned out to be the pace setter. She put in a decent race, but ended up being outclassed. I thought she might do better than the 10th spot she ended in.

Point Out has been in a slump lately which was extended in this race.

Alphagetti had no chance in the race and finished way back.
