The Manhattan District Stakes G2
3581.0415 The Manhattan District Stakes is one of the featured events in Ney York this week. Where 3 year old fillies will go 7 furlongs on dirt to capture a G2 win.
1. (5/1) Putney Choisir – Piegon19- (Choisir X Out of Place) This little girl likes it fast and she likes it muddy, Having won or placed second in her last 8 starts including 1 win and place on both kinds of off tracks. This versatile filly has slowly improved recently winning 3 in a row and then after a 2nd given a stakes attempt which she managed beautifully. Giving trainer Pigeon19 a length win with a 97 speed going 6 furlongs on dirt. She will have to go a bit longer here but she was comfortable at 6 furlongs.
2. (2/1) Blackjack Henny – Chorwon – (Henny Hughes X Wild Again) This 3 year old Filly was posted a nice 103 speed to finish second and closing in her last start, the G3 DelPenn Beaumont. She has never been off the board and continues to improve, she might eventually want a little longer of a distance but with such a nice run in her last start I can see her doing well here. Her start before last another Graded race had her closing to a nice 3rd posting her best speed to that point, she continues to improve off each start. A nice filly that is on the road to success.
3. (8/1) Socialite – Wajima – (Chief Seattle X Exploit) This little filly only has 6 starts to her name but a stakes win at 7 furlongs among them. After easily breaking her maiden she was entered in to a 7 furlong stake where she cruised to a win. Since she has not won a race but placed second twice and third once in her last out also in a stakes race going 6.5 furlongs where she ran 3rd after leading for most of the race. She is returning to her favorite distance, hopefully she will enjoy that here today.
4. (7/2) Champion Flower – Meguire2nd – (Flower Alley X Tough Knight) A 3 year old Brown mare who has shown she adores 7 furlongs. With two recent seconds covering that distance and one in a G2 race. Both closing seconds showing she is ready for today. Her last start was a flop, but that happens to the best of horses, her odds say that she was no worse off than the race where she finished second. I believe it’s a throw out and she looks ready to be here today.
5. (8/1) Fit to Romp – Disimster5 – (Cryptoclearance X Danzig) This 3 year old chestnut mare has spent the majority of her life on the turf racking up 6 wins in 11 starts. 4 of those stakes, then her connections decided to try her on the main track in a 6.5 furlong stakes. Much to the other trainers dismay she came rocketing up to catch the photo with a bob posting a 95 speed. With that nice win, this filly is exploring her talent on dirt, her breezes and training shows she romps on the surface and will be a tough competitor today.
6. (4/1)Rock The Buda – Viki –(Rock Hard Ten X Storm Cat) This 3 year old filly started her career on turf winning her first race, then stepping up to stakes with two fourth place finishes. Then with a switch to dirt she improved winning her first start on dirt in a mile stakes race then continuing to run in routes. With only one dirt sprint on her record this filly may like the shorter distance. She finished 3rd going 7 furlongs in her only dirt sprint outing and though her speed for 9 furlongs was impressive which that and her breeding suggest long. But to teach her how to close faster she has been placed here to learn from some fast fillies, but who knows she may pick up a check herself.
7. (6/1) Fusaichi Dreamer(Fr) –Eirann- (King of Kings (ire) X Fusaichi Pegasus) This little filly only has two sprint starts and has spent most of her career on routes. Though successful she was dropped last time out in to a sprint which she won by a nose posting a career best speed of 94. With that run it is obvious that the filly likes sprints but may need a little more room. She sat just off the pace and just barely held off a flying closer. Hopefully this race will confirm trainer’s Eriann’s skills as a trainer, and this filly will show even more improvement.
I really like 4,2,1 I really like the #6 horse but I think she is a router and will get up for some money but maybe not the win. Have a great day all.
