1 | CONDEMNATION | 7/1 | GRsimster’s Lenny decided he had enough of this mare’s winning ability in allowances and decided to enter her into some “meaty” races … she didn’t disappoint. Scratch bred to Kingmambo; this mare is to die for. Well that may be an over statement. However, she certainly is running to her breeding. Won a G3 at the distance in her last, she certainly is a contender here. She can rate on the lead or come from back of the pack. That should be an edge in a group such as this. Going for a “four peat” with plenty of confidence.
2 | CACHE(SAF) | 7/1 |
Alpine Turf Club representative sired by Horse Chestnut who has sired 4 graded winners in the past; with this mare being one. She hasn’t won in over a year, but has shown some signs of life recently. Her best efforts have been at this distance, so she may pick up a minor check. Jock could be better, but is due for improvement.
3 | SHEZA MANIAC | 10/1 |
Another GRsimsters entry sired by Medaglia D’oro. This mare is one of the three graded winners by this sire. The mare broke her maiden at the distance, and has competed up to 14f in her sparse racing career. She certainly has the class to be a contender here, and is coming off a nice effort in last out. Most likely will save the big run for the turn for home.
4 | XTRA SMART(KY) | 10/1 |
Scratch bred Smart Strike filly from an independent stable. Has won 5 times in only 13 starts and she’s a winner of a Grade3 event in FL last year. She was rested for 3 ½ months at the end of 2007 and came back in April of 2008 with a win in a listed event at this oval. More than likely she’s sitting on a high sharp at present and will be in the mix at the finish. Jockey Cox is way overdue for another win.
5 | MOSTLY IN BROWN( | 5/1 |
Representing the DelPenn residency is this scratch bred mare by Theatrical. No stranger to the winner’s circle; she has amassed 5 victories in her last 6 races in listed events. The big test of class is, what can she do in graded? She certainly has the credentials to perform well at this level; but now needs to prove it. She’s shipping from the States, and jock Jeter can’t wait to sit on her back.
6 | BAD KICKS(AUS) | 18/1 |
Yet another GRsimsters entry that is in nice form. Still eligible for NW4L, this filly is sired by Encosta De Lago. Sire has produced 3 graded progeny to date and this filly would like to be the 4th. She will have to dig very deep for that, as she hasn’t as of yet proved herself in listed. However, with only sixteen starts so far, she has a lot of time to prove herself.
7 | 5/1 |
RASH contender in this Generous sired filly. With only 12 starts; this filly has won two graded events (including the Penn Distaff G1) and placed in two other graded in her last 4 outs! She’s co-favored in this competitive race and rightly so. Looks to have a tremendous future ahead. She will most likely lay about 5 lengths back before challenging.
8 | HORRIFYING STORM(KY) | 7/1 |
Independent stable entry is this Storm Cat sired filly. She started her career on dirt and when switched to turf amassed 5 victories in ten starts. She won her last two listed events in smart style and now will test the graded ranks. It appears she will try for the lead or stay close so as to maximize her chances at the wire. Has potential.
9 | CAPTIVATING | 6/1 |
The 4th entry by GRsimsters. This mare is sired by Vindication who has multiple graded progeny. This mare isn’t one of them, but has won and placed in many of the GRS restricted events as well as listed. She appears to be a little off form at the present time, but that may be an illusion as her SP’s are improving. We’re looking for a big race from her here.
10 | GETTIN’ IT | 9/1 |
EAAA representative scratch bred to Dynaformer. True matriarch here going into her 43rd start. Multiple graded winner in her younger years, she comes into this event looking a little under the weather. She has had a strenuous schedule throughout her career. W&T usually sets in about this time, but she has a lot of heart. We wish her the best.
11 | ALPINE WINGS( | 8/1 |
Alpine Turf Club’s second entry. This scratch bred filly by Azamour finished her 3yo season winning seven straight! Her second year sire has produced 4 graded winners to date. As good as this filly looks, she’ll add to the total this year. She’ll definitely be going for the lead, especially from this outside post. Appears to be much speedier then the rest and will play…”catch me if you can”.
A very exciting race in the making. Too close to call, but the 3,7,11 may be in the mix.
