Mystic Muppet: Using my mystical random word generator which has been specially attuned to the vibrations of this race I am able to pluck from the ether a message pertaining to the horses running.
J: But surely there are many different possibilities and variations?
MM: Of course using a regular randomiser this would be true, but with the help of the spirits and with a trained mind, I can zero in on the relevant phrase, often with other close variations that reinforce the messages that are coming through.
J: Hmmm, sounds complicated. Did it take you long to develop your system?
MM: My dear boy, it took many years of practice and dedication to fine tune the system. Aligning the messages and translating them is so important as on there own there can often be a certain amount of ambiguity – which of course with the proper training and guidance can be cut through and honed to produce startling results.
J: Do gave you made much money in the past from this system?
MM: Of course the spirit world is not very interested in money and as an exponent and acolyte I too am not motivated by the financial aspects. I have of course grown very, very rich as a result of this system, but that is secondary to the joy and sense of achievement I experience in practising these methods.
J: But you do of course sell this system to the public, why do you need to charge?
MM: If it were up to me I would give it away, but of course with overheads being what they are my accountants have insisted that I charge an arbitrary fee – it’s sad but there is nothing I can do.
J: And yet you are happy to share it with us here today?
MM: I can only share with you the physical side of the system as the spiritual element is not easily related on paper, but this will give you a flavour of how it works, and I am confident that all those winners who read this will send me a share of their winnings, or perhaps even contact me for further instruction in the future.

Yes on paper this one looks good but with aquarius in cornucopia and the cusp of sauron on the wane the message is fairly definite. The spirit world very rarely cusses so avoid this one at all costs.

Another strong contender who looks to be a definite no, no. The spirits feel that she has now passed her best by some way and should be retired fairly soon.

A 5yo scratch bred mare from Beefcake Stables and bred by daydreamer. A graded winner who changed hands a couple of times in claimers as a 3yo – a bargain as it turned out. Despite a poor run last time she’ll be much fancied by some.

Perhaps not the most elegant way for the spirits to express themselves but the message is nonetheless very clear – a repeat of her last disappointing showing is very much in the stars.

A 4yo filly from Dixiedotco Racing and bred from a G class mare. There’s a lot to like about this filly who comes here after 2 straight easy allowance wins. A G2 winner last year so she has the class.

The spirit message here would perhaps be difficult to follow for a layman and may be even seen as a positive sign to the unwary, but caution is the key. In fact it implies that if she (after all she is a filly) had been a colt (s)he may well have won this race but that obviously not being the case we should of course disregard any claims she may have had of winning here.

A couple of startlingly accurate messages from the spirits here. To begin with this is an obvious test of her ability by the trainer who may herself be unsure of exactly how good her filly is. As to the race itself it looks very much like she is overreaching and will come up short this time.

Occasionally the messages may come through in foreign languages as I have a number of different spirit guides all eager to contribute to the debate. In this instance my dog Latin reveals that this is a test that will pass too slowly for this filly. Perhaps she should have stuck at the longer distances..
