Long Legged Handicap G111

Welcome to Queensland for the start of the winter carnival. Once again a wet track is the result after recent rain. The conditions will have a big bearing on the outcome of this race the Long Legged handicap Grade III A mile and one quarter Yielding Turf $150,000 All horses, 3 years old and up. A field of 10 greet the starter for this one lets take a look at them.

1 121542 EXCLUSIVE HABITAT(ENG) iant8 C Wyatt 3/1

We start with the favourite here a royally bred 4yrold colt trained by sims legend Iant Stables . He has a stunning record at this journey with G1 wins in the G1-Eclipse Stakes 5 starts ago and the G1-Big Red Stakes with an astounding 116sp last year. A truly outstanding Chestnut colt the way he looks at the moment he could challenge and beat all comers over the distance. His trainer has picked his races well and the only question mark here is the off track. He is yet to start on a rain effected track and this may give other trainers some hope. He will race handy to the pace and may take some pulling back. Definitely the one to beat.

2 118844 STORM’S GONE AGAIN tisgold I Harvey 5/1

Stevemunoz Stables trains this 5yrold AWESOME AGAIN colt who has won 9 from 29m and over $1,000,000 in stakes . Another 10f specialist who has also performed in wet conditions with 2 wins and second from 3 attempt in the wet. He was 3rd to EXCLUSIVE HABIT(ENG) in the G1-Eclipse Stakes and just may turn the tables in the wet his trainer will be hoping so. Usually races at rear of field and powers home late.

The is over the moon with the quality of this field and here’s another one. This 5yrold has at many times been considered the up and coming champion of the sim. With 10 wins and over $2,00,000 in stakes its not hard to see why. An uncharacteristic run last time out puts a question mark over him but that was at 9f and he may have needed the run. Back to 10f here the winner of The Turf Lounge-G1 last year may be due to strike again here. He will race back in midfield and look to swoop in the stretch. He is trained by Pierchinski Stables no strangers to top class racing.

4 105921 ELUFLY’S GOLDIE shazfly M Radke 4/1

A well performed 5yrold trained by Brundlefly Stables . Honest as he is he has not yet produced what some of the other runners in this field . He has only raced this far once and was a good 2nd 2 starts ago in a stakes race place money may be his best chance here. Will probably race in the leading group from the barrier 2 wet track placings to his credit. The odds maker rate his chances of going close to victory.

553243 VINNIE ROE(IRE) mauritian T Phillips 99/1

The rank outsider at 99/1 he is named after a champion stayer and winner of the Melbourne Cup. But as a 9 yrold its hard to see him footing it with these. Trained by Mauritian Stables he would cause the upset of the year if he wins good luck to you sir I hope he does.

6 64187 JAP SWALLY tartantrac T Cox 6/1

Madhibby Racing train this 7 yrold the second son of SAKEE in this field. He has 10 wins but most are in allowance company and he may find the step up to graded racing in this type of field a little tough. He is unplaced in 3 wet track runs so seem like he wont change that today others are preferred in this race.

7 120348 WARWICK(IRE) cuprunners J Bailey 9/2

Well supported runner this 5yrold has an interesting background. He has been tried a few times lately on dirt in fact 4 of his last 5 runs have been on dirt and although this has produced high sps but mixed results. Although highly favoured he has not won since this time last year. Lightly raced he has only had 18 starts for five wins . I don’t quite see where the bookies get their price from here but as they keep him short he must have some chance. Wet form 1 start for no placing.

8 122758 GENERIC’S BROTHER(IRE) dowelly3 J Dowell 11/1

Local Queensland stalwart Hunter Valley Stables aka dowelly trains this 4yrold GENEROUS(IRE) colt he has had 25 starts for 7 wins. He has a fine 10f record and 2 wins in last 2 starts over this journey in the The TOM A. P. Stakes-Stk and the The NORTH ABDUL Stakes-Stk suggest if he can handle the step up to graded company he may well get some of this. His dam FLEET DISCOVER(IRE) did win at G3 level so there is no reason this colt cant do the same. He will race just behind the pace and try to slip them on the corner go mate all of Queensland will be cheering for you.

9 96514 SCHOOL OF DOOTSIN jamco S DeBerg 13/1

Gcutty Stables produces this 5yrold son of DENON and the unowned retired mare JUMBO A. P. the dam also of GW ‘s SISSON’S MARK(ENG) and PEINTRE INDYMAN and stakes placed RED RIVER BULL so he is in good company. He has mixed record but like wet tracks and might just fill a place here at nice odds.

10 17866 MONTE YOUN(IRE) monte1 V Wakeman 56/1

Another roughie in this field he is 8 and has only raced 6 times leaving maiden company 3 starts ago. Trained by Ace Ace Two Three Double Suited Stables its hard to see him figuring in this race.
