The KEN’S WELL Special

There are many ways to write an article for the BTB, but I don’t believe I have read any that really try to predict how the race will be run.  Although it may be an attempt in futility, here is how I believe this race will turn out.

Out of the gate, DAN’S EMPIRE from the acote4 stable will bolt for the lead.  NOWTHEYWILLFEARU from Willyam13 stables will nudge ahead of MERIDIAN COURT(IRE) from the yang barn.  Those three will vie for the lead while OLDER THAN DIRT(KY), representing the thanksrev stable, RANDY KRANSKY out of the ladofmanor stable, GREAT A’TUIN(IRE) from the mrhwi2 barn, and PT’S CLEVER CAT(FR) from the theodore10 stable will all settle off of the pace.

At the two length mark, DAN’S EMPIRE will have opened up a two length advantage over NOWTHEYWILLFEARU who will be clear of MERIDIAN COURT(IRE) by an open length.  Next in line comes OLDER THAN DIRT(KY) who will be six lengths off the pace and followed by RANDY KRANSKY another two lengths back.  GREAT A’TUIN(IRE) will be a rapidly retreating ten lengths from the lead and will be joined at the rear by PT’S CLEVER CAT(FR).

By the midpoint of the race, DAN’S EMPIRE will be clear of  NOWTHEYWILLFEARU by three lengths, MERIDIAN COURT(IRE) by four, OLDER THAN DIRT(KY) by nine lengths, RANDY KRANSKY by twelve, GREAT A’TUIN(IRE) by sixteen, and PT’S CLEVER CAT(FR) by seventeen.

At the top of the stretch, a tiring DAN’S EMPIRE will still be in front of NOWTHEYWILLFEARU by one length, while RANDY KRANSKY closes to within four lengths. PT’S CLEVER CAT(FR) will be an advancing five lengths back, as GREAT A’TUIN(IRE) kicks for home six lengths from the front.  MERIDIAN COURT(IRE) will spit the bit and fall ten lengths from the lead and get passed by OLDER THAN DIRT(KY) who doesn’t find the good dirt to his liking.

As they hit the wire, I see RANDY KRANSKY edging out NOWTHEYWILLFEARU for the win, with DAN’S EMPIRE settling for third place money.  PT’S CLEVER CAT(FR) will nose out GREAT A’TUIN(IRE) for fourth place while OLDER THAN DIRT(KY) manages only to beat MERIDIAN COURT(IRE).
