CLAIMING REPORT—WEEK 3546
Claiming plays a huge role in horse turnover in the sim and this new weekly column will report on the previous weeks claiming stats and give a brief report on all claims for $50,000 and up. In addition I will write up a little claiming jewel report of some past claims in the sims that have gone on to be something special.
For those claiming enthusiasts don’t forget the claiming crown races that will be held at Minnesota Downs on July 12/2008 (Week 3644). This year the minnesota downs rez will be giving away a prizehorse to each of the winners of the 7 Claiming Crown races with the breedings to be the same lineage as the real life winners will be at the Claiming Crown races at Canterbury Downs in Minnesota this summer.

CONGFOO(KY)—(congaree x danzig x silver series)—20-3-5-2 $101,862…4YO colt was claimed for $50K by redspeed from jerr01. He is a turf sprinter who has top speed ratings in the mid 90’s and last won a race in July of 2007
SAINT GO MARCHING IN(KY)—(saint liam x deputy minister x forty niner)—14-4-3-3 $131,939…4 YO mare was claimed for $150K by hillylua from fatattack. She won that last race for the tag and has come into her own by posting back to back triple digit speed ratings and could perhaps test some stakes race starts before moving on to breeding duties.
YOUNG FLU(JPN)—(rock of gibraltar(ire) x deputy minister x alydar)—12-2-3-1 $71,189…4 YO mare was claimed for $150K by montecito from miltinho. While she has been turf sprinting of late with top ratings of 98 she has picked up all her wins in turf routes but it appears she broke down last time out and that result may have just speeded up her move to the breeding shed. Still she is lightly raced so you never know.
URBAN IMPACT(KY)—(a.p.indy x obligato x affirmed)—7-0-0-0 $0…3YO mare was claimed for $60K by waybil from triscay. This maiden has never hit the board in her career with top speed ratings in the mid to upper 70’s and is probably going to be on her way to the breeding shed soon.
MYSTICAL WONDER—(unaccounted for x academy award x timeless moment)—19-2-5-3 $63,787…5YO mare was claimed for $150K by claimfame from bryanj79. This dirt sprinting allowance runner seems to have stalled at the 90 speed rating mark but has shown ability on off tracks which may have the new owner give her a shot on the turf before deciding who to breed her with in the shed.
MARKET BROKER(KY)—(afleet alex x came home x el gran senor)—17-2-2-3 $51,879…4YO mare was claimed for $150K by claimfame from head2head. This mare seems destined to the breeding shed having not won since last fall and maxing out in the mid 80’s for speed ratings.
ALIANTE(KY)—(a.p. indy x mr prospector x icecapade)—9-3-2-2 $50,364…3YO filly was claimed for $150K by baggio from kingranch. This is the 2nd barn change for this filly who has taken to the turf and won her last race for the tag. Speed ratings are creeping up to the upper 80’s and with her light racing career to date may still yet make her mark on the track before her excellent pedigree is taken advantage of in the breeding shed.
SARCASTIC(TUR)—(mountain cat x forty niner x selkirk)—30-4-6-3 $110,928…4YO colt was claimed for $150K by homebred from bigted11. Previously claimed for $25K, this colt ran 12 times for his recent connections picking up 2 wins and several 2nd place finishes and posting 5 triple digit speed ratings in that time. New owners can either run him back at high tag or run allowance races with this dirt sprinter.
DEEP RUN BILLY(KY)—(orientate x forty niner x storm bird)—25-3-7-5 $99,764…4YO colt was claimed for $125K by cylla from pinerivers. Dirt sprinter has been running for high tags for most of past year and has posted 3 straight triple digit speed ratings which probably attracted his new connections here. May try allowance ranks for some wins before opting for that one time breeding opportunity.
RUBYWOOD(ENG)—(green desert x woodman x rubiano)—5-0-3-0 $13,225—3YO colt was claimed for $75K by mintjulip from prufrockaj. Speedy colt has had a tough time finishing at the wire as he usually cuts the fractions and then gives way but he is lightly raced and has a decent pedigree and could still become a very nice runner at the track.
DIXIE DEL PRADO(KY)—(el prado(ire) x rahy x forty niner)—6-1-0-1 $21,844—3YO filly was claimed for $50K by bhima3 from deajai. This filly had not take to the turf and had not been able to run well in allowances since her MSW win where she posted 82 speed rating early this year still she is young and has excellent breeding lines that made this one an attractive claim.
DRACHE(GER)—(monsun(ger) x pulpit x danzig)—9-1-4-0 $53,159—3YO filly was claimed for $50K by deajai from ascroft. This is the 2nd straight race this filly has been claimed out of as she went for $40K in the race previous. She has shown speed as seen in her MC win but regressed last time out be she is young and lightly races and is another who may yet make her mark at the track before going onto breeding duties.
NICKLAUS(KY)—(seeking the gold x deputy minister x hoist the flag)—7-2-1-0 $33,485…3YO filly claimed for $150K by gcd from catahoula. This filly won that last race at a tag and has increaded her speed ratings to the upper 80’s and is another of those that could still have something to say at the track before going on to broodmare duties.
FLOWESA(KY)— (flower alley x theatrical(ire) x kris(gb))—12-2-3-3 $70,035…3YO colt was claimed for $50K by clide from funster. Turf miler won that last race for a tag as well and has picked up a minor cheque in a stake race previously. Possesses low 90’s speed ratings currently, a mark his new connections will assuradly try to improve upon.
P J WARRIOR SPEED——cannot find record of old horse as it appears this horse was retired to make way for new breeding without using pedigree. Claim was for $125K by experiment.
MAGNOLIA LANE(KY)—(distorted humor x seattle slew x nijinsky II)—9-3-4-0 $59,685…3YO colt was claimed for $150K by moonkissed from fatattack2. Colt has finished 1st or 2nd in each of his last 5 starts posting high 80’s to low 90’s speed ratings and looks like he might return to the allowance ranks.
LATE ACTION—(action this day x storm bird x majestic light)—33-9-9-3 $221,701…5YO horse was claimed for $100K by cabin from jimdscott. This is the 2nd time this horse has been claimed in his career going for $2K last time and turning into a pretty efficient allowance turf runner with some top 3 stake runs in between. Has posted 7 triple digit speed ratings in his career and new connections hope to be able to keep this one running sharp.
FULL COURT PRESS(KY)—(powerscourt(gb) x distorted humor x halo)—13-1-5-2 $64,499…3YO filly was claimed for $50K by ck2stable from tbraq. This is the 2nd claim in this filly’s career as she was claimed for $15K prior. Turf sprinter has gate speed and broke maiden 2 starts back and could still be very competitive at the track before making use of the pedigree lines.
IMPACTION—(fusaichi pegasus x gulch x buckpasser)—42-8-6-4 $144,853…7YO horse was claimed for $50K by viceregent from aptitude11. Hores had run on the turf of late after running on the dirt for most of his career and has one triple digit rating on the grass but this claim looks to be one that may take advantage of the one time breed offered up in the sim.

This week’s claiming jewel is one of my own. MEATBALL HERO. Claimed in March of 2006 for $10K this now 6YO mare was struggling in turf allowances and was dropped to claiming ranks even after trying the dirt. The mare was claimed by bigted2 from bickrick3 and then she took a whole new life of her own. She immediatly responded to her new home with back to back allowance wins and would go on to win 12 races for her new connections including the following races—The Grade II Empire State Cap, The Grade II That Goat Just Fainted Cup and The Grade III’s He’s A Charmer Stakes. At one point she managed to put herself in the top 10 rankings for older females classic turf division and she currently stands #13 on that list. She posted a top speed rating of 106 and took advantage at what may be the easiest division at times in the sim as many of the older female runners are retired in place of prolonging their racing careers. She has a recored now of 50-16-5-4 with $749,127 in earnings and while her age and runs may have caught up with her in her last start where she broked down a bit she will be coming back this weekend in an allowance test to see how she runs before making a decision of extending her career or retiring her to the breeding shed. She is this weeks claiming jewel in the sim and has turned out to becoming a great runner for her $10K tag.
