Vertical Limit Leads All Sales
Auction – 3511: Well, hold on to your hats as the roller coaster ride continues. Fifteen horses sold for more than a million with the top three horses being stable transfers. The Dawg Pound took the honors in this category, transferring several. Now that the wedding is over he’s back at work organizing his stables for the coming year. There were less horses for sale, more two year olds being offered and best of all, less horses ending up in the computer pen. That will about sum up this week’s action. The senior citizens did well with eight horses, nine and up, selling for over a $1.00 and one even sold for $10,000.

Action Seen: Ok, Ok – I am not going to talk about the weather here in
Bung was selling 2 YO’s and got some good prices for them and Irehold was seen bidding on a quite a few of the unraced young ones. They will probably be given away after they get home to
The Millionaires: Although 15 horses sold for over a million dollars I am only going to cover the top five that I believe, were not stable transfers. So by skipping the top 3 we start with –
Feakle – #343331 takes top honors this week among the non-transfers, selling for $3,200,001.00. Consigned by Fitzgerald, Feakle is a ten time winner from 43 starts. The 8 YO chestnut stallion was very rank coming into the ring and maybe that is why he hasn’t won in over a year. On his plus side, he comes with lots of conditions. He was a stakes winner as a 2 YO and stakes placed as a 3 YO but hasn’t shown the same brilliance lately. New owner Ezywin is hoping to find the key to this rangy son of Rahy.
Sera, part of the Dawg Pound Group, consigned a nice looking dark bay colt by Seeking The Gold out of AP Clone by AP Indy. Golden Clone #137108, is a winner of one from 10 starts but will need to improve to warrant the $3,001,002.000 that Boogie paid for him. One good thing is that the horse is young, has conditions and is relatively lightly raced. Boogie hopes to be able to work with that.
There is something about grey that is eye catching – at least as a horse color. Wexford Nipper #138151, is no different and the handsome 3 YO grey colt drew some solid bidding. In the end it was Brit2 winning the honors and will get to lead the horse away. By Kitten’s Joy out of Lest We Forget (Kingmambo), Wexford Nipper has won two of his seven starts and has been in the money in four of those seven. He was a winner last time out and has improving speed figures. This might be the buy of the millionaires and consignor Marmac will pocket the $2,448,888.00 price tag.
E Dubai is the sire of Death Of Me #82083 a slightly built 3 YO blood bay filly out of Wylde Again (Awesome Again) and she must have been aptly named for Sdmf3 sent her to the sales ring after only eight starts. She is still a maiden but has finished in the money in four of those starts. On her plus side, she has been racing in the highly competitive owner restricted DelPenn races and earning checks. That was good enough for Pm to sign the ticket for $1,652,000.
A second maiden, Never High #144106, rounds out the top five. Tg paid $1,203,902.00 to Hawk7 and led the 3 YO bay colt by Swain away to a new stable. Never High has only hit the board once in six starts but is still very green and should improve. His speed figures made a 10 point jump last time out at a longer distance so Tg is hoping the colt will continue to improve.
The Stc: Not a lot of action among the Sim Challenge Trainers. They bought a total of 14 horses for $33,670.00 and that averaged out to $2,405.oo per horse. That average was pushed up by the sale of Shapes Of Play a 5 YO horse by Monolith. Sandown consigned the lightly raced horse who has won one of seven starts. He’s four for seven in the money though, and Stcr12 was willing to pay $13,268.00 for what could be a promising animal. Stcvbear was the leading buyer this week taking home five for a total of $1,218.00.
That’s it for this week. Good Luck with all your auction purchases.
