Ten line up for The SADDLE DEDICATE Stakes

9 colts and 1 filly have entered this weeks The SADDLE DEDICATE Stakes here at Epsom, a mile on turf for 3yo’s.   We have joint favourites here, one of whom won the G1-World Cup Juvenile Colt Mile last year so there should be plenty of fireworks. The betting is:

4/1 Broadway Dancer(KY)
4/1 Prospetariat(IRE)
5/1 Franklin Terrace(IRE)
6/1 Top Form(KY)
6/1 Nine Forty(KY)
7/1 The Underground(KY)
8/1 Vijandra(ENG)
11/1 Nomadic Tribe(FL)
15/1 Pure Oil(KY)
22/1 Selkirk Dancer(ENG)

Analysis

4/1 Broadway Dancer(KY) – #7
Trainer: super20
(Kingmambo x Deputy Minister x Alydar)
A colt from More Evil Than The Evil Empire! and based on a G class horse.    Despite Winning the G1 World Cup Juvenile Colt Mile on dirt last year he seems to have struggled to recapture his form since, and has been dropped to a stakes race in an effort to rebuild his confidence.  This is his first start on turf however and, whilst he is brimming with talent, he may not find this the easiest race top achieve that.

4/1 Prospetariat(IRE) – #9
Trainer: xssessiv
(Sadler’s Wells x Seattle Slew x Mr. Prospector)
B4rca Stables
send out this colt who has still only one victory to his name.  He has a few good runner-up places this distance and a top SP# of 100 and in this, his first race as a 3yo,  he will be looking to go one better.  Should be the one to watch at the close.

5/1 Franklin Terrace(IRE) – #3
Trainer: stormcat55
(Montjeu (IRE) x Fusaichi Pegasus x Saint Balladoo)
Bred fom a nice Class mare, this colt from Foxon Stables looked much improved in his first race as a 3yo, finishing a very fast 2nd.  He’ll be handy throughout and is quite capable of upsetting the favourites.

6/1 Top Form(KY) – #4
Trainer: kingswood
(Dynaformer x Pivotal(GB) x Mr. Prospector)
Coolk Stables
have entered their colt into his first stakes race on the back of two excellent allowance wins as a 3yo. 3 wins from just 5 runs prove that he is no slouch over this distance, but this race could prove to be hotter than he would like.  A proven front runner he will be the one everyone will have to catch in the straight.

6/1 Nine Forty(KY) – #10
Trainer: inthamoney
(El Prado(IRE) x Forty Niner x Buckpadder)
Worldwide
are hoping their colt can do better in this race than when they raced here last time, finishing only 5th.  Has some early speed and would probably benefit to a drop back to 6 furlongs.  No stakes victories but you feel that they will just be a matter of time and placement – but he will have to perform well to achieve that here.

7/1 The Underground(KY) – #1
Trainer: webfly
(North Light (IRE) x Giant’s Causeway (IRE) x Sadler’s Wells)
This colt with just 4 races and 2 wins under his belt has been sent out by Brundlefly Stables.  Disappointing on his 3yo debut in his first stakes run, finishing last of 4, a much better performance is hoped for here.  Not without place chances.

8/1 Vijandra(ENG) – #8
Trainer: kincsem
(Compton Place(GB) x Cadeaux Genereaux(GB) x Shirley Heights(GB))
The only filly in the race has the most starts to her name with 11. Dupre Stables will be pleased with her 4 wins so far and her G1 entry last time, though only managing 5th, was a very good effort.  She wont disgrace herself here but it’s hard to see her winning against the colts and you have to think that there would have been easier races she could have been running in this week.

11/1 Nomadic Tribe(FL) – #6
Trainer: echointime
(Essence Of Dubai x Mr. Prospector x What Luck)
Bred by coolk (who runs Top Form(KY) in this race), this colt has performed well so far for Scootboy Stables, narrowly losing out in his first stakes as a 3yo last time.  He’s spent half of his 10 races on dirt but it is on turf that he looks at his best and could surprise some of his better fancied rivals if he runs true to form.

15/1 Pure Oil(KY) – #5
Trainer: echointime
(Essence Of Dubai x Mr. Prospector x What Luck)
The Big Oil Conglomerate [Ft. LordPye]
bred this colt from a Grade 1 winning class D mare.  Ran very well on his 3yo debut over 9 furlongs and I would expect him to improve even more when he stretches out to 10+.  He seems to have recovered well from a minor injury sustained in his last 2yo race and he’s not without his chances here today if he is in the mood.

22/1 Selkirk Dancer(ENG) – #2
Trainer: bevronii
(Selkirk x Troy(GB) x Native Dancer)
Only 4 runs so far for this Crandy Stables bred colt.  Just a maiden win to his name so far and his first 3yo race wasn’t exactly a success.  Probably the weakest form of any of the runners here, you would have expected him to get a couple of allowance runs in before he moved up to this kind of company.

Summary

A race full of quality in which 9 of the 10 runners have every chance of taking first place on the day.   Broadway Dancer(KY) looks a very uneasy favourite on his turf debut so I would expect the other joint favourite Prospetariat(IRE) to profit from that provided he can catch and pass Top Form(KY) over the last few yards.
