Bargain Bred Racing Series 2008

As the 2008 Bargain Bred Racing Series draws near so do the hopes and dreams of Bargain Bred breeders. What will the 2008 Bargain Bred Racing Series have in store for players? The series expands once again with a little something for everyone. There are seven new races this year.

Many of the new races will take place in the beginning of the year. The series kicks off in a few weeks with a pair of new races for the ladies. The Bluebonnet is on the turf at a mile and a sixteenth. The Paint Brush is a sprint on the dirt.

We have added a prep race for both three year old colts and three year old fillies with the addition of The Ozark and the Ozark Diamond.

We pay homage to the Greek mythological character Silenus. He was teacher and faithful companion to the wine god Dionysus. He was a character known for his drunkenness. As one of the lesser known characters his place among the Greek Mythos is similar to a Bargain Bred amongst the blue bloods of the sim. So we honor him with the Silenus Mile run the same day as the Bargain Derby on the turf.

The Queens is a race for three year old fillies. This will take place the same day as The Bronx (the Bargain Bred Belmont). The race will be shorter than the Bronx at a mile and three sixteenths.

Finally we ad the Everglades a turf sprint that will take place on the Bargain Summit of Speed card.

There have been a few distances altered a bit here and there and some races where moved on the calendar.

Thanks to those of you supporting the BBRS as a residency we are earning those useful credits each and every week which made the expansion possible. For those reading about the BBRS for the first time here is a little info about the series.

The BBRS (Bargain Bred Racing Series) is for bargain bred runners only. The runners must be scratch bred, and cost less than 100 BPs with out any discounts. Mike has graciously changed breeding a bit over the years to give discounts on breeding. Random breds for instance you get for half the price. A breeding that would have cost you 150 normally only costs you 75 points putting the cost under 100 BPs. That is not a bargain bred as far as this series is concerned.
