Five fillies look to tame the Kings Dragon

Welcome to another exciting weekend of racing at Vermont, in addition to our feature stakes the King’s Dragons Handicap, we also are hosting three other $50,000 added money events, sponsored by Vermonts own BUNG, which include the World Play Maiden, Pysco Babe Special, and the Authoritarianism Stakes (a $2,000 claimer). Showers a expected throughout the day, and the track is listed a Good.

The tenth race kicks things off with the feature race, and even though only a field of five has showed up, its a tightly matched field with a slight 8/5 favorite, heres a look at the field.

The long shot of the field, is definitely capable of winning here. The daughter of Cryptoclearance started her career off the board on the dirt, and has since has been impressive on the turf with 2 wins and a place in three tries. I see her sitting on or just off the lead throughout, and would be surprised to see her win.

I’ll (D.Fendlay Jr.) will be riding his daughter of Aragorn, a sire of which I’ve never heard of. She’s coming into the race with a three race win streak, and is undefeated on the turf. Increasing SP’s each race with a 83 last time out, and news from the trainer that she’s training fabulous make me think she’ll be in the winners circle.

Only a one time winner in eight tries, does have a solid ITM % on the turf (5 of 6), including a 2nd in the Star of Gold stakes at 5.5f. Most recently she’s coming off a disappointed 11th in the Grade 1 – Super Gold Derby. Has a chance here, but I just don’t think she’ll be the one there at the end.

The only Maiden in the field, can’t be overlooked as she’s coming off a 2nd in the Bitter Pecan Stakes, so she’s proved she can place in these some fields. Better that she had a 2nd and 3rd in MSW tries. In a five horse field, the shocking thing is how my brother (5.5% win) got the mount? But he said he looks to take full advantage of the opportunity.

Completing the field is our morning line favorite. Like Sanctified she comes into the race with a 1 for 8 win ratio, which was a 23/1 MSW upset victory. Since then she’s tried nothing but stakes, which could account for the loses. Even in losing she hasn’t disgraced her, with 4 ITM finishes among those six stakes races, I see her finishing there once again.
