THEO’S TOP 10 WATCHLIST
Well with the onset of a new year the deck has been shuffled with horses moving up a year in age and other’s retiring so we start a new year of the Top 10 watchlists.
Each week I will focus on one division (older male, older female, 3yo male, 3yo female, 2 year olds will start in July). The rankings are taken by the sim division rankings via stakepoints and I add a little comment to each horse. Note in my lists horses are only eligible to be one one list and must have run 3 races in a row in a division to be eligible for that condition. Also, if a horse runs times in a row in another division they would be removed from the list as well.
The chart is listed with this weeks ranking, last weeks ranking, horse name, this weeks stake points, last week’s stake points and a brief comment on the horses recent performance.
I am going to start with the 3YO Colt’s this week. The rotation will be 3YO colts, 3YO fillies, older males, older females.
Hope to see your horses on the top 10 watchlist soon.
3YO MALES—DIRT SPRINTS
(1) (NA)—INDY PROSPECTOR(FL)—(224) (NA)—closed off 07 with Grade I Maryland victory but pattern suggests next start may not be a win.
(2) (NA)—SWIFTSURE(KY)—(208) (NA)—last start was first flop in career but he may not have liked the 2 months away from the track.
(3) (NA)—MAGICAL DANZ(IRE)—(128) (NA)—has yet to finish worse than 2nd when running on the dirt.
(4) (NA)—SPEEDTOWN(KY)—(112) (NA)—started and ended the 2007 season with success but hopefully he has matured to pick it up a notch in sophomore season.
(5) (NA)—ADONAI(KY)—(109) (NA)—after 3 routes in a row including BB Juvy he returned to sprint to win and perhaps may find that is the division for him to run in.
(6) (NA)—BELONG TO WHO(KY)—(102) (NA)—good on turf, good on dirt but real good in sprints.
(7) (NA)—TIMER STOPPER(CA)—(77) (NA)—has yet to finish out of the money in his career and imagine that a Graded stake try is coming up soon.
(8) (NA)—MEGS THE CAT(KY)—(72) (NA)—take out the Grade I’s and last year was nearly perfect.
(9) (NA)—MILLVIEW PACKS(SWE)—(68) (NA)—5 wins in a row and counting but can he handle it when he goes into full fields against the top of the division.
(10) (NA)—WILD TO THE TOUCH(KY)—(68) (NA)—Grade III winner last year has had his problems in his Grade I starts so far in his career.
3YO MALES—DIRT CLASSIC ROUTES
(1) (NA)—FLEET DAISY(KY)—(209) (NA)—won the BB Juvenile and then tried the turf but results indicate that it is back to the sandy surface for this one on the road to the derby trail.
(2) (NA)—JESUS WALKS(KY)—(164) (NA)—had an eruption in Maryland with 102 speed rating which makes him one of the fastest of his class.
(3) (NA)—BROADWAY DANCER(KY)—(160) (NA)—hopefully he did not peak at the World Cup last year.
(4) (NA)—SARDINI(KY)—(147) (NA)—Movieland winner hopes his star will shine on many more races in 2008.
(5) (NA)—ZABEEL WARRIOR(AUS)—(141) (NA)—Sparkling wine winner showed last time that he is not a fan of bad weather.
(6) (NA)—ALYDAR AGAIN(KY)—(140) (NA)—this one did not mine the off track and looks like 10 furlongs is right up his alley.
(7) (NA)—GRATEST(FL)—(140) (NA)—hopefully his heavy 11 race 2 year old schedule won’t hurt him in his 3 year old season.
(8) (NA)—SUITED AK(JPN)—(132) (NA)—finished in the money in 6 of 7 dirt starts last year.
(9) (NA)—PYRALIS(KY)—(119) (NA)—BB 2nd place finisher bombed last time out and will return this week to prove that was only a bad day at the office.
(10) (NA)—GHOST IN A DANCER(KY)—(117) (NA)—Graded winner finished 3rd in BB Juvy and is current on a break waiting to return in 2008.
3YO MALES—DIRT LONG ROUTES
THIS LIST WILL START LATER IN THE YEAR WHEN THE DIVISION HAS STRETCHED OUT IN DISTANCE.
3YO MALES—TURF SPRINTS
(1) (NA)—LARGENT(ENG)—(192) (NA)—speedster ran huge in Newmarket last time out.
(2) (NA)—DOTH’RAKI(KY)—(148) (NA)—was the best in the 2yo turf sprint at DPCD to end a great 2007 campaign.
(3) (NA)—CREZZINO(ENG)—(145) (NA)—Nationwide winner in a tough spot as can he hold his speed in sprints because it looks like he sure cannot in routes as attested by BB.
(4) (NA)—PROUD CHARM(KY)—(117) (NA)—2nd place Grade I finish hilited a 5 win season for this one last year.
(5) (NA)—BOOM GATE(ENG)—(108) (NA)—rally came up short last time and with 8 furlong win in the bag is his days as a sprinter numbered.
(6) (NA)—HANNAH’S HORIZON(IRE)—(96) (NA)—take away dirt and route race and he has never finished out of the money.
(7) (NA)—VALYRIAN STEEL(KY)—(87) (NA)—returned to sprinting last time out in Grade I and just missed at the wire but it is unclear which division he will be running against in 2008.
(8) (NA)—DARK PASSAGE(ENG)—(82) (NA)—Grade III winner had a rough time in his 2007 finale and hopefully rebounds when he comes back this year.
(9) (NA)—PALTICS COLT BG(KY)—(76) (NA)—has won 6 out of 7 on the turf with only loss a 2nd place finish and would imagine a Graded start is on the menu for this colt.
(10) (NA)—SJ’S GHOSTZAPPER(KY)—(72) (NA)—BB undercard winner looks like a versatile one able to run up front and close which could come in handy in 2008.
3YO MALES—TURF CLASSIC ROUTES
(1) (NA)—SPARTIATE(ENG)—(204) (NA)—3 wins out of 4 in Graded starts with the only disappointment coming at the BB.
(2) (NA)—BUCK’S PARTY(ENG)—(180) (NA)—some say he should be at the top having won the BB but there is all of 2008 to decide that issue.
(3) (NA)—RAGING MENACE(WA)—(161) (NA)—has not looked the same since coming to North America and perhaps is on his way back to the EAAA as we speak.
(4) (NA)—WOETTE’S SLIPPER(KY)—(153) (NA)—BB 2nd place finisher has not finished out of the money yet in his career.
(5) (NA)—CURIOUS CANDY(KY)—(144) (NA)—Grade I winner at 8 furlongs won a long sprint last time out so we will have to see where he runs in 2008.
(6) (NA)—MANATEE BAD BOY(IRE)—(135) (NA)— has not been the same since the World Cup and will need to regroup if he wants to stay in the top 10 in 2008.
(7) (NA)—THE STARDUST(ENG)—(129) (NA)—perhaps his BB and Maryland flops can be attributed to an aggressive 11 race 2 year old season.
(8) (NA)—HOARFROST HILL(IRE)—(97) (NA)—runs best on the engine but could not get to the lead in MD Grade I last time out.
(9) (NA)—IDOL WORSHIP(ENG)—(80) (NA)—a pair of Grade III wins and a big rally to finish 4th in the BB sets up a promising 2008 for this colt.
(10) (NA)—GOLDFRIARS(AUS)—(80) (NA)—6th place finish in BB is the only time he did not finish 1st or 2nd all of last year.
3YO MALES—TURF LONG ROUTES
THIS LIST WILL START LATER IN THE YEAR WHEN THE DIVISION HAS STRETCHED OUT IN DISTANCE.
The 3YO fillies division will be hilited next week.
