SEMI CHARMED PYE(IRE) returned to her best form to win the Eloquent Lady Saturday for lordpye4, winning her first graded stakes in the process. She did this on just two weeks’ rest and a long flight from North Florida. The going in Victoria was firm for the mile and one quarter test of turf fillies. TIZ FRESH(KY) and INCREDIBLE DIVA(IRE) dueled for the lead for the first six furlongs, with TIZ FRESH(KY) becoming the first to throw in the towel. INCREDIBLE DIVA(IRE) grabbed an exciting two-plus length lead by the third call, and it looked like she might duplicate her speedy recent victories. But SEMI CHARMED PYE(IRE) was making her move from midpack. She captured the lead in the stretch, and never looked back. CLOVIS BOUND closed nicely from well back, but was no threat to the winner. CACHE(SAF) demonstrated that her poor showing in North Florida last out was not the genuine article, but by the same token could not pop the triple figures she has in the past. She managed third. INCREDIBLE DIVA(IRE) held on for fourth. TREE SPIRIT was close to the leaders early, but she basically ran her race, and it was not good enough. She pockets a small check. While TIZ FRESH(KY) faded, she did not finish last. That dubious honor went to OH SUSANNAH, who looked outclassed and never ran a lick.
