KELSO CUP G1
Welcome to Delaware for the running of the Kelso Cup run over the ultimate distance of two miles (3200meters). It is a G1 race for $1,000,000 3yrolds and up on a fast track. I was lucky enough to run into
PP1 85851 KANAKA emanon D Givins 5/1
The Emanone Stables brings us this 6yrold son of ALYSHEBA he has won a whopping 16 races on dirt and has placed over this distance in G1 company 4 starts ago . He is in a purple patch of form of late with wins in his last 3 starts in the longer distances . He has the services of the top jockey on this track and in this even field that may count for a lot.
Kelso’s Comments : I don’t know a lot about racing really but here we go I remember Red said to me always look after #1 so I think yeah #1 has to have a good chance.
PP2 23766 HOLLOW CAP(GB) thethumb2 V Gardner 8/1
THE EVIL EMPIRE returns with this colt which has a strong British influence in its breeding being by BEAST HOLLOW X SHIRLEY HEIGHTS . Lightly raced with 7 wins from 13 starts he has thrived on long distance dirt racing culminating in his last start win over 16f in the St-The EL ANT(IRE) Cap in a good time with a 100sp and you would think he should carry that form on here keep an eye on the market to see if he shortens
Kelso’s Comments : Speaking of foreign influences that reminds me of Fez was never quite sure where he was from anyway this horse looks strong and should go well.
PP3 100461 KORNOKOPIA korn M Wallace 20/1
Trained by Qwikvett Stables and to be ridden by the boss Mike Wallace its hard to see this moderately performed running figuring in the finish of this one. His dam TENNESSEETAPDANCE was a grade winner on turf around the 8-10f distance but has had little success in the matrons paddock. Place chance looks best hope here. Talking to his trainer this morning he said a lack of suitable allowance or stakes racing lead him to try his luck here and as he was also bring ENTER THE BEAST for the race thought he most well run.
Kelso’s Comments : Trained by a guy named after my wife Demi’s favourite band i better put a dollar on this one for place.
PP4 43326 DAY OF OIL(KY) lordpye O Ridenour 12/1
The Big Oil Conglomerate [Ft. LordPye] saddle up this runner by ALDEBARAN who has done most of his racing on turf . He has won 4 of his last 5 starts all over 16f and if he handles the dirt as well as he handles the green stuff he has to be accorded a chance. His 3 dirt runs early in his career were good and he has strengthened a lot since then look for a good performance on his return to dirt here. His dam DAY OF PYE was placed in graded company over 16f as well.
Kelso’s Comments : Lord Pye looks like a guy Jacky would like to be seen with and Fez told me he looked like a classy guy !
PP5 94656 PENNANT RACE dumptruck P Haynes 13/1
The popular trainer Fabman Farms brings us the POINT GIVEN colt from the G1 placed mare S. POINT who won nearly a $million in her 10 wins. fabman told me he has had a lot of fun with this horse since he claimed him 20 odd starts ago and he has run and won in top stakes company he feels he may be found out a bit in this top grade we will wait and see . He ran his best race last time out and so is on the up in the St-The BRASHLY IN AN IC Special and with 3 wins in a row this scribe is predicting a top run here maybe braking 100sp for 1st time .
Kelso’s Comments : Fabman that reminds me abit of Forman Eric to be precise my best buddy on the show and pennant race is what they football is all about right now so may be omen bet.
PP6 3662 MIRACLE TO ME soulbleed N Lawton 8/1
Black Label Stables train this outstanding performer by DEPUTY MINISTER he has won 13 races and $1,250,000 in stakes he has cracked 100sp on many occasions and 3 starts ago won the G1-World Cup Survivor — Restricted over this marathon distance with 101sp. Will settle in mid field and be doing his best work at the finish.
Kelso’s Comments : Looked strong in the parade ring and the jockey looked like he was on the job. Hyde told me he was punting this one and he knows his stuff.
PP7 121387 DESTINY STRIKES(KY) fourhooves D Silver 15/1
Well bred 3yrold who has been ultra consistent so far trained by Snappa Racing Syndicate this son of A.P. INDY x SADLER’S WELLS x NIJINSKY II has done well in his career to date . This would be far and away his toughest test so far. He has continued to step up in distance and his sp’s have increased also. We will have to wait and see if he can measure up to town hall company .
Kelso’s Comments : Kitty Forman always believed in destiny and i think she would definitely back this horse in this.
PP8 2414 POINT COLONY(KY) xanderman V Jennings 12/1
Lightly raced having only run 9 times for 2 wins. He has mixed his racing between turf and dirt and has some nice performances . Has not won since August and that was a turf allowance so it is hard to select him here.
Kelso’s Comments : I was talking to his trainer Jrogue Stables who i notice has a great win % in all his stables and he sain have a quite dollar on him.
PP9 97497 HIGHER THAN A KITE(IRE) super15 C Shoemaker 12/1
More Evil Than The Evil Empire! produces this HIGH CHAPARRAL 4yrold in this race . Last start win in 13f allowance race with a 107sp has encouraged his trainers to try something a little stronger this time. He is a very consistent colt but may find this a bit tough at this point in his career. Another midfield runner who will likely hit home late in stretch.
Kelso’s Comments : Hyde’s uncle Leo has been known to be higher than a kite at times and i think this one will be smoking home in the end.
PP10 128054 ROCKINGHAM(KY) fairhaven4 A Rolling 6/1
THE EVIL EMPIRE has this runner primed for a big run . I personally like this horse as it has 2 of my favourite sims sires WOODMEN X ELA-MANA-MOU as sire and dam sire. He has won 7 from 14 and has recorded some sensational sp’s in the shorter route distances his ability to get 2 miles must be in question but he has been strong up to 12f and it will be no surprise if he finishes 16f off equally as well.
Kelso’s Comments : Demi and I love to holiday in the Hampton’s and this horse reminds me of Christmas you cant beat a dancing pig !!
PP11 51340 LOSING PRIVILAGES(AUS) turfking32 J White 7/1
Turfking32 Stables proudly produces this colt by FLYING SPUR for this equally at home on dirt or turf he has compiled a fine record in his career to date, He has won 8 of 37 and in his last 4 starts has run 3 100+ sp races increasing the distance in each run. Must be one of the horses to beat if he gets the journey which is a question mark over a few of these runners. Will be in or near lead most of the way.
Kelso’s Comments : Donna and Eric have lost there privileges on many occasions Red is always doing that Flying Spurs seems a little kinky but hey who am i to say an aussie horse is always good to see.
PP12 140724 EFFERNATSKI(BRZ) gofightwin F Duffy 27/1
His trainer Red Dirt Runners okdavid a good friend of mine asked that i not say anything bad about this runner but really if i don’t say bad things ill have nothing to say only joking David. Honestly i can see plenty of positives in this horses performances to date firstly he can run the 2 miles as his last 4 runs prove and he can do it in stakes company . So good luck mate and hope he cracks the 100sp’s figure
Kelso’s Comments : Maybe Fez is Brazilian he keeps looking at this horse through the binoculars.
PP13 86673 CREDIT GIVEN(IRE) brentuk B F Abman 6/1
OASIS RACING UK has probably the class runner of the field he has won nearly $1,500,000 in stakes so far and been in the money on 21 of the 29 occasions he has races including 11 wins 5 starts ago the won the G1-The Can Lightning Strike Twice Special over this distance and finished his preparation off with a nice allowance win over 16f he looks to be a horse right on song and looks the horse to beat. Certainly a horse we would all love to own.
Kelso’s Comments : All credit must be given to this horse for his racing to date I don’t know much about horses but i know this is a good one.
PP14 ENTER THE BEAST(GB) qwikvett1 O Osbourne 16/1
Another top performer probably getting to the end of his career he has previously won G1 races at 2miles and his trainer Qwikvett Stables will be hoping there is one more top run left in the old boys legs I think this field accords him a great chance of being in the money. His trainer told me he gave him a 5f sprint to wake him up for this and he ran a slasher so look for him to upset the favourites.
Kelso’s Comments : Sounds a bit like Demi’s ex Bruce Willis unleash the beast hes getting to be a bit of an old boy as well
