AZURE SKY(KY)

I Wimpy

5/2

Out of a “G” rated mare that already has a progeny stakes placed.  This speedy colt by Sky Mesa is entering his 1st  stakes event after a gate to wire win in his last.  He has only been OTM once, and that on the brown stuff.  SP’s have improved and he should be flying out of the gate. He’ll be going against some proven stakes winners, but shouldn’t be intimidated.  Jock will have to rate well as others will be nipping at his heels.

Twice a stakes winner to date; this 2yo out of a “G” rated mare has won on both surfaces.  Sired by Rock Hard Ten, the colt is #42 in the sprint division.  Ran a huge race in last stakes event and improved SP by almost 10.  Now comes the question; will a bounce figure into the equation here?  Colt has been pressed hard in almost all his races to date, and as fragile as these 2yos are, will he hold up for one more after that last big effort?  As the trainer’s name implies, this is a risk.  But, what the hey, he ain’t a real horse, right? First decent progeny out of an  ”F” rated mare.  Sired by Ivan Denisovich.  Sire has a low percentage of winners to starters, but has produced 4 stakes winners to date.  This colt is one of them.  Purchased at the auction by old time simmer socalslew, the colt has improved greatly.  With three W’s in his last four races since being purchased; this colt looks really primed for this.  He should enjoy a clean trip by lying just off the pace, and has enough oomph to be a threat in the late stages of this sprint.

Out of a “D” rated mare this colt has a stakes victory and wins on both dirt and turf.  Considered one of the outsiders in this, based on SP figures, he did beat 8 colts in his last G3 try.  Sired by Andromeda’s Hero.  Sire appears not to produce too many precocious runners to date, but is solid on dirt or turf.  One would have to expect improvement for this colt after coming out of G company.  Colt will have to have a touch more staying power in the late stages.

Stakes placed colt out of an “F” rated mare and sired by Swain.  Although not a winner in last stakes try, this colt was impressive in his ability to come off the pace for the 1st time.  This had to impress his trainer by the nice move the colt made.  This event suits the colt to a “T” with the flexibility of style.  There certainly is enough speed in this to have tiring steeds nearing the finish.  What more could a trainer want?  Jock is solid.

Out of a solid bloodline “E” rated mare and sired by Military.  Colt was purchased at auction after a dull 1st start on dirt.  Since switching to turf he has picked up a MSW and allowance win.  Colt ran an impressive 2nd in his first stakes try at 7 panels and was no threat in his last effort.  Looking to turn it around in this, he should lay off the pace and expect a check.

This is a nice race for the #3 colt.  Pair him with a few of the others for a decent exacta.
