THE “NWRC JUVENILE FILLY”

With the raging wild fires subsiding in Southern California, it’s time for the smoke to clear
around the NWRC. Their version of the “Breeders Bowl” will invade California this
Saturday and showcase many excellent runners that were a shade light on the BB
points table. Let’s take a look at the CAVALCADE JUVENILE FILLY race, for the young
misses at 1 1/16 on what will certainly be a fast dirt track. The ten runners entered
appear to have had the line-maker baffled, as he couldn’t find a clear favorite. Can we?
1> HIGH SPIRITS paydirt41 : 4-1: Paydirt’s been around the sim longer than original
dirt when looking at his bevy of stables. Three 1000+ start stables and several others
approaching that mark. He brings this daughter of Singspiel in to this race with a
multitude of positives. She hasn’t been worse than second in her five race career,
she has accomplished the highest speed figure in this group and that came winning
her last race when she was stretched out for the first time. She might be carded as the
third choice, but sure looks like the one to beat on paper.
2> NATURAL ORDER marmac : 19-1: Yet another longtime simmer, Marmac sends
out the longest shot on the board in to this fray. His Silver Train filly enters deep waters
as a five race maiden against four multiple race winners. She’ll also be stretching out
for the first time in her first race beyond six furlongs. But that might work out in her favor
because she’s been running on late in those sprints and there’s not any world beaters
entered here. Much improved effort last out. Minor share may cieling here though.
3> DA TATE bigtate04 : 7-1 : This girl has been dancing all the “big” dances, running in
four straight Graded Races against large fields since breaking her maiden in her second
start. That was against a four horse field of A2L’s, in which the runner up was a M3,500
winner. She does have a Grade 2 fifth against the boys on her resume and is also
giving the distance a go for the first time. This cast is definitely easier than what she’s
been facing in her last four, but she’ll still need to run the race of her life to threaten
for the top honor for this daughter of Da Stoops.
4> DISTORTED BID pointblank : 7/2 : The first of the co-favorites is a well bred Distorted
Humor miss. She posted a number slightly lighter, 83 to 86, than High Spirits in her last
start. That was also her first distance try and she gave up the lead grudgingly late when
finishing third in an allowance race. Her main competitors in here are closers and
that could be a very good thing for the only runner in this race that has shown front running
ability with consistently improving numbers. Unless one of the stretchouts goes with
her early she’s going to be very hard to run down.
5> SMART AFFAIR bradyboy :10-1: Smarty Jones sired this one. She looks fairly light
against most of these numbers wise. But she does come off her best number when
she added some ground in her last start. Maybe two turns moves her up some more.
She really, really needs that to happen to make an impact.
6> HARBOR TAX leftcoastj :6-1: She’s only one of two runners signed on that have multiple
route race experience. This Rockport Harbor baby was coming from the clouds in both of
long races to grab the place spots. She’s going to need some help up front, but I see a
pattern in her numbers that indicate that she may be posting her lifetime best in her early
career. A must use in the exotics and possible upsetter.
7> BOUDICA bigmoose :7/2: This Rainbow Quest off-spring is both the other experienced
router and other co-favorite. She just came flying home late to finish third against a six horse
Stakes field. The knocks on her are a running style that will put her behind other closers
and the fact that she’s ran identical 81’s in her routes. That might not even land her a
board finish in here. I’m going to leave her off my tickets and hope I’m not wrong… again.
8> GOT NO CHANTS dadepark :11-1: War Chant sends out this lightly raced filly. She’s
been absent for 10 weeks since finishing last in five horse Stakes race, going two turns
for the first time. She sure did look good dominating a MSW field in her debut. I can’t
back her any confidence after that last race, but I do love the name.
9> WILD LAND CAT crandyii :12-1: This daughter of Ministers Wild Cat has tried everything
but the Turf route in her first six gos. Her only route number was a lowly 70, but that was
in the slop, so perhaps it can be forgave. She sured showed a ton of improvement, with
a lifetime best in her last start. A “fast” surface. I’m not thrilled about her chances to win,
but I sure invision her running much better than most expect.
10> LEAD BUTTERFLY dublinlad :11-1: This Birdstone baby is: “a longshot” “undefeated”
“the only Stakes winner in the entire field” and “has improving numbers”. Wow. Where do I
sign up? I’m thinking no where probably. She isn’t proven at a distance and the feeling
here is that she’ll attend the pace before disappointing. They don’t give away money,
like Mama said…
