Red River Crossing Takes On Four Others In China Feature
China – Saturday’s card will be topped by The Ms Kenbar Memorial Stakes, a 14 furlong event featuring five three year-old fillies facing off for $80,000 in prize money over the main track. Ms Kenbar is an 11 YO mare by Generous. She won three of her 28 stakes includ9ing one stakes race. She is the dam of one foal to race – a winner. This race has some very fast horses and it will be interesting to see if speed will hold up over a route of ground. Here is a look at the field.
Breaking on the inside will be Queenab’s Rally The Queen (6/1) by Kingmambo. This nicely made filly, all trimmed in white, has been brought through her conditions and if her trainer feels the time is right to move her up – she is probably ready for it. She has won five of her last eight including her last two. She seems to be winning by more, the farther she goes, so this looks like a move in the right direction.
Fiery Good Looks (5/1) has the same dam sire (Storm Cat) and dam dam sire (Seattle Slew) as Rally The Queen but is by Cryptoclearance. Owned and trained by Atl, she has won two of her 11 starts and was third last time out in The Nijinsky Needle at 13 furlongs. This may be too far as her last win was at a mile and an eighth but she is fit and has stakes experience.
Rahy is represented by two fillies in this race and the first is Primeval Light (2/1). Conditioned by Steller2 she has won four of nine starts and gave a very fast performance last time out in The Exbourne’s Shark, leading to the far turn but ran out of air and couldn’t take it any further, fading to fourth. She’ll need a longer lead to win this.
On the outside will be The Big Hit (7/2) by Storm Cat. A winner of three of her 14 starts she comes in off a winning effort last time out in a 12 furlong allowance race. She is well placed here by trainer Mickbriant, but she didn’t last going 13 furlongs two back, and this is farther. She does like to lay just off the speed and that could be a big help.
I look for Primeval Light and Red River Crossing to go to as far and as fast as they can with The Big Hit just behind. Fiery Good Looks and Rally The Queen will be chugging along in the rear. When the running starts I think it will come down to Fiery Good Looks and Rally The Queen with Fiery Good Looks having the experience to hold on for the win.
