This is a great time to watch the two year olds as they are finally maturing and finding their favorite distances and surfaces after driving their trainers to drink all summer. We have some here that looks like the training has been rather easy and will continue to do so especially with a win here. Let’s take a look:

(RAHY x SADLER’S WELLS x MR. PROSPECTOR out of STORMY ALI) This beautifully bred chestnut filly has shown all of the moves of a true champion for trainer 40oz. She came within a head of being undefeated in six races and won her third Stakes race last time out at 7F. She is a big time front runner and will love this inside post. Trainer 40oz has brought her along slowly and this looks like a good spot for her. They have Smith holding the reins and he is one of the best at the track. This could be a hard team to beat on race day.

(ELVSTROEM (AUS) x MANILA x SADLER’S WELLS) This little chestnut filly’s Sophomore Sire ELVSTROEM is getting some play and has a Graded and Stakes winner among his two year old offspring. This girl could be next in that regard as she just missed last time out in the THELI BONANZA Stakes. She’s never missed the board in her three races for trainer ScootBoy and has been improving nicely. Her SPF needs a slight bump but that should come here. Her stalking style should benefit from this post and she is in the capable hands of jockey Glover. It’s time to step up to the plate for this girl.

(BORREGO x NUREYEV x NASHUA) In six races, this beautiful cream colored filly has never finished lower than second. Trainer MindTwins is trying to get her over the top to finish that last few paces down the stretch. She took a slight step back last time out with a 75 SPF, after a couple of higher speeds in her two previous races. That is always a bit of a worry with these youngsters. She has VanDam in the leather and he is having a great year and has the patience with these youngsters. He may be just the ‘Magic’ that this team needs.

( ELUSIVE QUALITY x DANEHILL x BOLD RULER) Since turning to the grass two back this filly has really found her way for trainer Harvey. She won her Maiden and an Allowance in easy style and now turns to the Graded level for the first time. She seemed equally comfortable at both a mile and 7 furlongs so this trip should fit her. She also seems comfortable either running from the back or stalking the leaders so this trip for jockey DeKeyser should be letting her do what she wants and guide her home. She needs to step up her SPFs but looks capable.

( FASTNET ROCK (AUS) x PINE BLUFF x SMARTEN out of PINE JUPITER) A big jump in company for this filly after only one race on grass but she looked good in that one winning her maiden when she stalked the leaders and made a nice push down the stretch. Jockey Youkam will need to get a big jump from her here but he is one of the best. Trainer JWhisper knows that time is running out on this two year old season and wants to see if this filly is ready for the big girls. This race should answer a lot.

( TACTICAL CAT x INDIAN RIDGE(IRE) x RAHY out of BARB’S RAHY) It seems as if I’ve been writing a lot lately about the Royal Stables of Ostend whose colors this filly waves. Trainer Woette6 is one of several there that seems to have some talented two year olds and this one is no exception. She has done nicely on both surfaces but seems to prefer the grass. She had a strong win at a mile last time out with an impressive charge down the stretch. I wonder if she would like stretched out again but has been moved back here. She has Littlejohn in the irons and he is quite capable.

( SKY CLASSIC x COZZENE x KINGMAMBO out of COZY MAMBO) This pretty light grey filly won two in a row then seemed to go backwards her last two. She finished well back in both although her SPFs are still improving. Trainer Rlogan is moving her up in class but she hasn’t really proved yet that she is ready for that. She has Ampe holding the reins and his steady hands should help here. Last time she was this far outside she won the race so perhaps that is an omen.

Like most two year old races, most of these young ladies have a real chance here. I like DANA’S MAGIC to finish fourth although she may finish much better. BRUT IMPERIAL seems to be comfortable no matter what is thrown at her and I think she has enough to finish in the top three. DAY OF TRIUMPH is getting some play and is worthy of it too. She has been hot and could unseat my favorite here. However, I believe that they will all be cheering for RAH RAH RAH who looks like the class of this field and should collect the win.
