Welcome to the second of todays features, the 7f Grade III Palms Outwards Stakes for fillies on the turf course. Your reporter and the track management are a little disapointed that only five runners will go to post but at least they all lokk to be in with a chance of the win. Let’s take a look at the runners-
PAULINE G(KY) (TALE OF THE CAT x SEATTLE SLEW x SECRETARIAT) |
Has won two from six but has been struggling in graded race sand only just made the frame in stakes the last twice. Still only has a best of 76 and this is her first run on turf but neither Seattle Slew or Secretariat are noted for their turf influencesd so i’m not sure the swith is likely to work. Will find this tougher than the 5/2 morning line price sugests.

Has ben steadily improving and has won her last two, the latest an allowanc eover 7f with a 77sp. Will certianly get a mile but should still have enough speed to be a threat here and looks a live danger today. Seems best when up with the pace so she might know her fate early- too far back and she won’t win.

Ha sonly won one from four but has improved with each step up and trip and is bred to get 10f at least. Expect another imrovement from her latest 79 sp and as it won’t take too much more to win this she must be a massive danger. Only problem might be that the trip is already too short but only the race will tell us that for sure.

The morning line favourite at 3/2 , based on her last two runs which produced 85 and 80 sp’s and two stakes wins. Has been going away from the field at the end of her races and the drop in sp despite the rise in trip last time out either means she was just doing enough or that she already wants further (she is bred to get around 10f) and that is the only concern here as she is the class horse of the field. Nailed on for future graded success but will it be today?

Has won four of six and has an eyecatching sp of 87 two runs back, but could only produce a 70 sp next time up over the same trip, although it still produced a win. Another bred to get at least 10f she may be another who will find this trip too sharp. Her best runs have come from near the front but she will find that hard today as some of these are clearly faster over a shorter trip. Another rnailed on future graded winner but again that trip is the worry.
OVERALL
Really har dto call despite the small field and short priced favourite. Several clearly need further but still have plenty of class but i’ll go for GALOPIATE G as she looks less likely to have a problem with the trip.
