Record: 17 races: 7-2-1

Here’s a filly that has gotten better with age and of which I think we have not seen the last yet. She has been improving in her last five races and still looks to have some way to go. This girl has been gently trained by her trainer and has been running in allowances till two races ago. She was entered in two low field Stakes and finished second and first in her last race. That last race she won on today’s distance and in a career best speedfigure of 110. She is on a roll and still improving and we will have to take this filly into account for the win today.

2          4F            BET THE FLOP                 40oz                 6/1            Awesome Again x Sadler’s Wells x Mr. Prospector

Record: 33 races: 13-4-5

This filly comes from a mare STORMY ALI that already foaled two Stakeswinners. BET THE FLOP is her first foal and immediately a good one. This filly does not like anything else than to take the lead and try to hold it from wire-to-wire. She ran 30 races on turf of which she won 11 and she ran 3 races on dirt of which she won 2. Those two wins on dirt come from her three last races and she has a winningstreak of four at this moment. Her speeds on dirt are obviously faster than on turf and in her last race she posted a career best figure of 106 on 9f dirt. Since she is a frontrunner and the race is 9.5 furlongs we have to ask whether she will be able to hold that speed from beginning till end. I believe in this race she can come a far way but we can not forget this is her first try in Graded Company. Not the favourite for me but I think she can make the board.

3          4F            MY COVER STORY          murray2             7/2            Mineshaft x Fusaichi Pegasus x Blushing Groom

Record: 14 races: 7-0-3

Here’s a nice bred filly that still has a long way to go in her career. Only 14 races in her book yet and ten of them on the board. She has run in a variety of sprints and routes but seems to be most succesfull in the routes where she finished on the board in eight of nine races. Lately she has been posting +100 speed figures in her last five races of which she won two routes.  The distance of today’s race is new for her. She only ran further once and that was in the beginning. In meantime she definitely has improved and honestly I don’t think she will have problems with today’s distance. I see her winning today with toptrackjockey Gardner in the saddle.

4          4F            OTTO OVERRATED        wilko                 13/1            Montjeu x Le Fabuleux x Prince John

Record: 19 races: 5-5-5

This scratchbred mare out of Montjeu has been able to run in the money in almost 80% of her races, however I do not think she is suited for today’s distance. Her best results are in the longer routes with two Stakeswins (including a G3) over 12 furlongs.  She also has not been able to do better as a 96SP on 9f dirt and therefore I believe this race is not really suited for her. Will need more distance as she also is placed 65th in the routedivision.

5          5F            UNINHABITABLE           phartlap1          9/2            Capote x Vice Regent x Habitat

Record: 37 races: 10-4-4

This 5y old mare seems to have started her second career. She has been focussed on sprinting most of her races and only ran 5 routes before. None of these she actually won and she managed to place herself two times. One of this was last race in which she ran 4th place over 9furlongs in a G3 where she still was closing in on the first. She did manage to do this in a speed figure of 101 , but since she in the past was not able to be consistent in these routeraces it is hard to predict what she will do today. She definitely seems to be missing the topspeed lately to compete in the sprints , but she still might be fast enough for the longer races. She definitely seems to have proven that she has the stamina for it if she has a good day. A dangerous outsider.

6          4F            RAN AWAY                super18             5/1            Sadler’s Wells x Kingmambo x Raise A Native

Record: 27 races: 7-4-3

A very prettily bred chestnut daughter of Sadler’s Wells. She is ranked 51st in her division and her ranking has been declining over the last couple of months because of lack of big raceresults. She did win twice this year but one was in a small Stakes and the other in an allowance. She failed three times this year to come on the board in a GIII and will not have an easy task today. She however comes back from a good performance in her last race: a 9f dirt race which seemed a bit too short for her and where she came closing in on the winner in the stretch. Today she might need that extra half furlong which she was lacking last time. The speed of 104 last time indeed looks promising for today.

7          4F            MUD AND SUDS        pick4                 6/1            Danzig x Secretariat x Mr. Prospector

Record: 22 races: 7-2-4

Expensively scratchbred filly that will definitely be a fine broodmare when she is done. She mainly has been sprinting and with success: she won 6 sprints in seventeen races. She has been trying routes also but with lot less success: only winning one out of five. She has tried this distance once before but failed in that Stakesrun coming in eighteen lengths behind the winner. I don’t think she will run herself into the picture today.

8          4F            ALY CAUSEWAY        cvd3                 9/2            Giant’s Causeway x Alydar x Seattle Slew

Record: 27 races: 10-3-2

Very early this year this filly had a record where she won more than half of her races, but since January she has not succeeded anymore to record another win. Her speed figures in Stakes this year though have been very good and over 100 but she has failed every time to win. With exception of her first race this year her other three tries in graded company have been no successes and although she does not seem to perform too bad and looks really constant will pop the question whether she can find that little bit extra to do better again. About a year ago she did win on this distance of 9.5 furlongs , but this year she did not yet run at that distance.
