Ms. Maker Wins By 1 3/4 Lengths
The full horse field of fourteen made their way to the starting gate on this sunny Saturday afternoon of racing. The one mile Del Webb Distaff was at hand as the filed loaded easily into the gate and the tense waiting began until they would spring out onto the fast dirt track.
Out to an early lead was Barb’s Baby Inside, owned by jakebarn, who had a slim three-fourth of a lengths lead over tothewins trained Trade Winds. Running one length back in third on the outside was fairhaven2 owned and trained Sunday Sharp. Along in fourth in fifth were Impossible Girl and Aymara (ENG), who are trained and owned by minnslew and lasthope1 respectively. Trailing the field early on by nine and a half lengths was Kyle Creek N, owned by ironmike
Barb’s Baby Inside then lengthened her lead to one and a half lengths over Trade Winds who was still running in second. Now two lengths back in third was Sunday Sharp with jockey L. Snyder. Impossible Girl and Aynara (ENG) still held their positions in fourth and fifth. Kyle Creek N was now trailing the pack fifteen lengths.
Coming into the final turn Barb’s Baby Inside still had the lead by three and one-fourth lengths now with Impossible Girl moving up into second. Dropping into third and fading quickly back was Trade Winds with Sunday Sharp dropping into fourth. Moving from mid-pack seventh and up into fifth and quickly gaining speed was twistystix owned Ms. Maker. Holding position in sixth, some five lengths back was Case By Case, owned by allyfarms. Fading into seventh was Aymara (ENG) with Sought And Found, trained by jimj2, the post time favorite, running steadily in eighth. Rubiano06 trained Tom Quest was holding on to ninth with Reno, trained by jimdscott running back in tenth. Gaining ground now in eleventh was opus owned and drained Dragon Daisy who was making a big move towards the inside. Dropping back into twelfth was Dizzy, owned and trained by kingswood. At the back of the field as they came to the stretch was Queen Of The Ryche, owned by sdmf5, in thirteenth and Kyle Creek N who was still trailing the field.
As the horses entered the stretch and the jockeys went for their whips Ms. Maker continued her surge forward on the inside and rocketed past the horses in her path, going on to take the field by surprise and win by one and three-fourth lengths under jockey Mo. Turner with a speed figure of one hundred eleven. In second was majority race pacesetter Barb’s Baby Inside with Impossible Girl finishing third.
