Stakes Winner Seems PLAIN AND SIMPLE!
Revelations Marking Time Stakes
Grade III
Six and one half furlongs on the Fast Dirt Course
$75,000
All horses, 2 years old
We have a relatively small field here with so many Stakes race on this anniversary week but there is some definite talent. Some of these youngsters are really starting to mature and could be the next big thing in our race world. Here is hoping that I can be one of the folks that get to say “I remember when…” at the end of the year when the votes come in for the two year old Horse of the Year. I know that many of these trainers are dreaming the same thing so let’s take a look:
1 – SPECTACULAR RULER(KY) ODDS OWNER WIN% JOCKEY WIN% TOP SPEED EARNINGS RANK 5/1 KMRacing 8.4% F.Disher 75 – 3 – 7 – 8 – 4% 74.51 $11,830 N/A
(NEWFOUNDLAND x SPECTACULAR BID x NATIVE DANCER) This cream colored colt finally broke his maiden in his third race but did it in Spectacular style with an easy wire to wire win over a full field. He threw a nice 75 SPF there and the longer distance may be just what trainer KMRacing ordered. He is dropping back a half a furlong here but that may still be enough. He will have to overcome the lackluster riding of jockey Disher who has barely registered a blip on the win percentage scale this year. The inside post should help this front runner.
| 2 – WHERE HE LEADS ME(PA) | ODDS | OWNER | WIN% | JOCKEY | WIN% | TOP SPEED | EARNINGS | RANK |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 4/1 | Amish | 22.7% | U.Douglass | 200 – 29 – 24 – 26 – 15% | 75.56 | $6,240 | N/A |
(WILL’S WAY x CHIEF’S CROWN x STOP THE MUSIC) Only one race with a maiden win but it was in impressive style with a 76 SPF and a three length win. That race was at this distance and trainer Amish has to be a little excited about this colt’s prospects. He has a coupled entry in the race and both look good. Douglass is holding the reins and he is looking good in guiding these youngsters. It is hard to base too much on one race but this colt looks like he has the goods.
| 3 – TRAIN ROBBER(KSA) | ODDS | OWNER | WIN% | JOCKEY | WIN% | TOP SPEED | EARNINGS | RANK |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 4/1 | Tootsie | 8.7% | N.Bedford | 416 – 40 – 47 – 55 – 10% | 76.54 | $10,060 | N/A |
(ALYSHEBA x NASKRA x NO ROBBERY) After running out of room in the stretch of his first race, this beautiful grey colt made up for it with a hard charging win down the stretch at this distance last time out. He seems to like the distance and trainer Tootsie has to like this colt as well. They have Bedford in the irons and if they can put up another 77 SPF this time, they should be in the mix at the end.
| 4 – BOBBIE DAZZLER(KY) | ODDS | OWNER | WIN% | JOCKEY | WIN% | TOP SPEED | EARNINGS | RANK |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 9/5 | SupaPogs4 | 6.4% | Q.Miller | 510 – 64 – 92 – 77 – 13% | 76.29 | $ 35,900 | N/A |
( DEHERE x FORTY NINER x RELAUNCH out of CLOSET BOBBIE) After two straight solid maiden races including a win last time out, trainer SupaPogs4 has moved the colt up to Stakes company to see what he can do. The extra half furlong shouldn’t be a problem although he did fade a bit in his first race. Miller is in the leather and is quite capable of making sure the colt has enough left at the end. There will be some early speed in this race and his stalking style may help.
| 5 – PLAIN AND SIMPLE(PA) | ODDS | OWNER | WIN% | JOCKEY | WIN% | TOP SPEED | EARNINGS | RANK |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2/1 | Amish | 22.7% | J.Piotrowski | 556 – 135 – 101 – 77 – 24% | 78.61 | $ 101,620 | 28 |
( REAL QUIET x A.P. INDY x ALYDAR out of MAPLE A.P.) The second entry for trainer Amish looks really special. This colt has already eclipsed the $100k mark in only five races that included three wins, two of which are Stakes victories. This will be his longest outing as he has stayed at six furlongs previously but the way he has been finishing the extra distance looks promising. They have Piotrowski holding the reins and he is the cream of the crop here at Pennsylvania. I don’t see any scenario where this colt loses this race.
| 6 – LOUIES FROSTY(AUS) | ODDS | OWNER | WIN% | JOCKEY | WIN% | TOP SPEED | EARNINGS | RANK |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 26/1 | DeepRock10 | 5.2% | M.Pringle | 62 – 5 – 7 – 5 – 8% | 56.45 | $29,880 | N/A |
( HELENUS (AUS) x RAJA BABA x PAS DE SEUL(GB)) After a maiden win with a slow SPF there have been three straight disappointing Stakes outings. This colt is switching to the clay after four races on the grass and that could do the trick for trainer DeepRock10 who is certainly hoping that is the case. Pringle will be guiding the colt but he has had his struggles this year as well. Unless the dirt switch wakes him up, this could be a long day for the youngster.
Morning Line = 4-5-2-3-1
Paz Picks = 5-2-3-4
These youngsters are hard to handicap but I like BOBBIE DAZZLER to finish fourth although he could finish much better. I would like to see how he handles the step up in class. TRAIN ROBBER looked good with a strong finish last time out and I think he has enough to finish in the top three. WHERE HE LEADS ME won his only race but I would like to see how he does here before totally jumping on his band wagon. That leaves the win for a hard charging PLAIN AND SIMPLE who will pass everyone in the stretch and claim the win. He really impressed me last time out and I think he can do it again.
Good luck to all runners!
