2yo Girls Go Profitable

Track rated as yielding, sun is poking through the clouds after a bit of a wet night.  Today we have the Profitable Colony Stakes over 7 furlongs for the 2yo girls.  Prize money of $50,000 has the crowds here in force to watch these young uns battle it out. 

Post 1:             9/2       PPPPP(KY)          (bigrick)

What a name for this 2yo girl.  I’m not sure how it’s pronounced.  Is it just “P” or “P,P,P,P,P”.  Either way it’s a pretty cool and unique name.  On top of that she’s got some speed in her legs as well.  Improving with every run since her debut on dirt on the 17 March 2007, she has now cemented herself on turf with an impressive win last time out by a nose over 5 ½ furlongs. Debuting here at Stakes level she looks ready to take on the other runners here.  At 9/2 odds, certainly well worth backing if she can put up another run like last time out.

Post 2:             5/1       SHAHADEAN(NY)              (blackmore)

This is certainly a different field in class to last weeks 2yo stakes run and this little girl here is no exception.  3 wins from 5 outings and a wire to wire win last with a speed rating of 81.  Very fast and very impressive.  Just one little downside in my opinion.  This is not a firm track here today folks.  She’s run once before on a “good” turf track which did result in a win as well.  Speed a bit down but still she can certainly run.  Be interesting to see how she goes on this track today.  Touch and go. Firm turf she would be out and out favourite you would have to think.

Post 3:             2/1       FERRARI CAKE(ENG)                       (sam812218)

A name like this you would think she goes fast.  And fast she does.  1 outing for 1 win with a speed rating of 64.  No idea what she’s like on a wet track but we are going to find out here.  If she runs like a Ferrari handles in the wet then there’ll be no problem and horse and trainer will both be eating cake afterwards.  Certainly a favourite with the bookies at 2/1.  Out of Pivotal, I will have to wait until she runs to see how she goes. 

Post 4:             6/1       NOTHIN’ LEICA T.A.(AUS)                             (adrian2)

Aussie registered!  That alone should make her favourite here amongst the crowds!  Out of the famous Nothin Leica Dane, certainly has a lot of Danehill in her!  2 wins out of 3 runs, great speed rating last time of 71 giving her her second win.  Likes to come from behind and seems to have plenty of get up and go about her.  If she can do that here on this track it will be an impressive run.  Well worth backing at 6/1. 

Post 5:             2/1       SINGLE WHITE PAT(KY) (casino)

Equal favourite for the race is this beautiful girl out of Gone West.  Impressive breeding actually – GONE WEST x DEPUTY MINISTER x DANZIG and can run as well.  Now this one has performed well on a not firm ground coming in third over 6 furlongs.  Obviously the trainer is hoping for another run like that here.  This will be her third stakes race outing and looks the goods here.  Im going for experience (if only 1 race) on a non-firm track.  My pick for sure.

Post 6:             8/1       CAPE CROSS FILLY(IRE)                               (y2j)

At 8/1 is the long shot of the race if you could call it that. Hardly though as she has as much chance as any other in this one.  Her one win came on a track rated as good turf with a speed rating of 61 and was still accelerating away as she crossed the line.  Needs a good run but also well worth backing at these odds.  One of the few who might well take this out.
