The Saint Paula looks to be a wide open race – after the clear favorite
THE SAINT PAULA
A dozen of our 3 year old fillies have come to race 6.5 f (13/16 of a mile) on the California Dirt in this Grade 3 event with a purse of $150,000. They will leave the gate at 2:00pm EST on Saturday March 24th.
This field looks to be wide open as we have only 1 Graded stakes winner, 6 listed Stakes winners, with 8 of these ladies starting in their first Graded race and 1 in her first stakes at any level. We have 2 horses switching over to the Dirt, 4 scratchbreds and 5 jockeys will be going to the gate wearing the silks for lghtng99 racing.

1- FINNS UP (7-1) C. Morten
john5399 sends this Roan KY scratchbred (Medaglia D’Oro x Unridled’s Song x Storm Cat) with a superior pedigree out of the john7317 stable and draws the rail. Has won 4 straight races, the last being the Storm Gamble Dirt Filly Sprint in February posting an 89 SP at Idaho. Has never failed to hit the board in her 6 starts. This early speed burner cannot be ruled out here.
2- GRATS MAN (15-1) T. McGriggs
lghtng99 enters this Brown KY bred daughter of Karakontie out of the Congrats mare Assembly Dancerz from his alimitos6 stable. She competed in the 2018 EQUINICS running 14th in the Solar Song. Won her other start this year in the Plate Exalt Dirt Filly Sprint at Denmark putting up an 88 SP. Has 2 career wins but I would look elsewhere in this one.
3- WENTYFORD (5-1) O. Brim
davarto will saddle up this KY bred Bay daughter of Shackleford out of the Bernardini mare The Three Bees from the witts stable. Comes in here off of a January NW4x allowance win at California where she posted a 94 SP. She won the Moon Rings Dirt Juvenile Fillies in November. Has 4 wins in 8 races, so I will not dismiss the chances of this stalker yet.
4- PAINT ME A WILDCAT (5-1) S. Rainsberger
fishstix brings us the light grey AZ bred daughter of Margie’s Wildcat out of the Paynter mare War Paynt from the fishstix1 stable. She has posted SP of 90 in each of her last 3 starts, one with Rainsberger in the irons. Closed out her juvenile season running 4th in the G3 Mistaken Soda Identity Stakes. Has been in the money in 7 out of 8 sprint races, another stalker to keep in mind.
5- TWO COOL (27-1) O. Sturman
lgthng99 brings from the deeprock17 stable this FR bred Bay daughter of Soldier Of Fortune out of the One Cool Cat mare One Cool Hollandia. Comes afer posting a best 78 SP in a hot race win at Oregon after running 5th in the Black Strike Dirt Filly Sprint just 10 days earlier. Has 3 wins in 8 career dirt races, but this front runner may be stepping up just a little too much here.
6- EXECUTIVE SUMMARY (5/2) M. Staples
flagdown sends from the master stable this Bay KY scratchbred (Giant’s Causeway x Forty Niner x Seattle Slew) so the royal lineage is obvious. Comes in having a 2 race win streak. The last coming at the G3 Old Cap smoking a 98 SP. The previous was a NW3L Turf victory. She made 3 other graded starts as a 2 year old. Front runner that has to figure in this race.
7- NY TROOPERS SPITE (6-1) B. Clancy
doodlegbs saddles out of the doodlegbs2 stable this Bay KY scratchbred (Speightstown x Danzig x Seattle Slew) another royal pedigree here. Comes in off her 2nd straight win in the Wine and Whiskey Dirt Filly Dash at Michigan posting up an 89 SP. She has 4 wins and has never missed the board in her 6 starts. You will have to account for this closer.
8- FYR KAT (25-1) A. O’Brien
silversun brings this Light Grey KY scratchbred (Liam’s Map x Broad Brush x Carson City) out of the silversun4 stable. This filly has started her career winning 3 out of 4 entered races, but has not gone to the gate in a listed or graded race until now. Won last outing posting a 77 SP jumping up in class to a NW4x allowance at Wyoming. Possible longshot special here.
9- CHASE READY (7-1) BA Ryan
Gatetowire saddles from the affirmed99 stable this Bay AUS bred daughter of More Than Ready out of the Golden Missile mare Storm Chase. Won her last trip in the Go O Go Dirt Filly Sprint at New Mexico putting up a 91 SP. Has ran in 4 listed stakes in 7 starts, while hitting the board in all 6 dirt starts with 4 wins. You have to expect a big run from this closer.
10- SNOWE CLUBZ (16-1) A. Liggis
lghtng99 enters this Bay KY bred out of the deeprock49 stable. This daughter of Fast Anna out of the Red Clubs mare Red Snow will be making her first appearance on the main course after 10 starts on the turf where she had 1 win and 3 seconds. Has a career best 79 SP and has made 2 graded starts on the weeds. With the change in surface I would have to say longshot.
11- BLAZE SPIRIT (35-1) T. Bay
lghtng99 will saddle up from the deepesr0 stable this FR bred daughter of Charm Spirit out of the Henny Hughes mare Blazing Henny. Last time out ran third in a field of 5 just 10 days after rallying for win a 45k allowance in Oklahoma. Has a career best 78 SP and 2 wins in 8 career dirt races. This early speed horse cannot be recommended in this one.
12- SIXTIES RANSOM (23-1) C. Euler
lghtn99 gives his fifth rider a leg up on the ENG bred Bay daughter of Sixties Icon out of the Invincible Spirit mare Didrikson for the deeprock1d stable. Only second start on the dirt after running second in a hot race a Kentucky only 3 days after finishing third in the String of Pines Turf Filly Memorial. Had 1 win in 9 turf starts with a best SP of 79. Your guess is a s good as mine.
