Raider’s Cat Special

(SP)Wyoming- Coming up on the weekend is a nice little sprint for sophomores. It is named after a mediocre mare that only attained one stakes win in her career and her only offspring is still standing in the gates. It seems the WRC can never get it right with too many nothing stakes in their arsenal which most owners give a pass to. There will be five entrants in Saturday’s main event trying for the silver at six furlongs over the grass course. On paper they look to be fairly even but come race day it is all speculation. Anyway, here are the quintet who will be set to go in the $45,000 Raider’s Cat Special.

Madras(IRE) entered by chilcoat. This Irish sophomore will be making his stakes debut. He has collared the favorite spot and is it any wonder. The closer comes off of four strong sprints for easy wins. The step up to the next level is the right decision and should have positive results. The hot jockey John Dawg will be in the irons and should lead the way to a fifth win.

Manila Cat entered by kyracing. This Kentucky sophomore stays in Wyoming for another run at stakes level. The front runner has just missed on his two previous takes attempts. but looks primed for his break though win. He is familiar with the track which will be to his advantage, only the poor performing jockey, Manthis Smith could hinder him.

Opotere entered by j999. This Kentucky sophomore will be going for his second stakes run. The mid-packer has been slowly improving with each race and is on the verge of taking it to the next level. He appears to need a little more distance, but may be sitting in just the right place. He has the veteran jockey Stephen Boyd in the irons and he could take this horse along on his hot streak of late.

Lazy Digger entered by airbiscuit. This chestnut from Texas is no stranger to stakes level and even has captured a stakes win. The front runner has been consistent in his runs, but is a step slower than where he should be. If his last race is any indication, then he has finally gained that all important step. Add to that the top jockey of Jesse Sands in the irons and the colt could be set for another stakes win.

Go To Jumbo‘s entered by 4play. This Kentucky sophomore returns to Wyoming looking to improve on the show last time here. He stretched out running then and has upped his speeds and showed strong resolve. The stalker has shortened up again and this may handicap him some. This time out though the colt will have the wily veteran Vince Gannon in the irons which should equate at a strong chance in a win.
