THIS WEEK IN MINNESOTA—WEEK 3252
This weeks 10th race feature at Minnesota Downs is the 3rd running of The Three Mercy Special Stakes for 2 year old fillies run 51/2 fulongs on the Supertoy7 marshall turf course. The turf course has been listed as firm and a compact field of 4 are chasing the winners share of the $45,000 purse.
Let’s take a look at today’s field:
1)UNO CITY KITTY(FL)—EVEN—unokirby sends this filly out of MACHO UNO with a record of 2-1-0-1 and lifetime earnings of $5,692. She is out of the mare JUNGLE MEOW who was 2/26 at the track with no stakes wins and has 4 foals on record, all winners. This horse runs for the Taboo stables that are based right here in the Minnesota Downs backstretch. This filly has started in 2 MSW dirt races so far, winning her last effort in North Dakota posting a 68 speed rating over 5.5 furlongs. Her connections are moving her to the turf today for the first time and hope to see which will be the preferred surface for this girl. Hijacked(13%) will be aboard this filly who has so far shown herself to be an excellent closer.
2)CIRCUS PLUME(ENG)—5/2—saxlhof sends this filly out of PICCOLO(GB) with a record of 2-1-1-0 and lifetime earnings of $27,160. She races for the unafilliated Kisber stables. She broke her maiden in her debut start in Virginia earlier this year while posting a lifetime best 69 speed rating over the 5.5 furlong turf race. She came back last time out to finish 2nd in an overnite stakes in Northern California and this stakes experience may help her out in today’s race. She is another who seems to favor a closing style and she will be ridden by Napper (8.3%) today. Hopefully the Napper will be able to stay awake long enough on this one to get her home on top.
3)SIXSPEECH(MD)—2/1—sixesplus1 sends out this filly out of ORATORY with a record of 2-1-0-0 and lifetime earnings of $28,250. She is out of the mare MINUSNINE who was 1/18 at the track and this is the only foal on record. She is based in Vermont under the umbrela of the Pastures of Green. She started her career in a tough 2 year old open allowance and pressed the pace but could not catch the leaders in the stretch ending up in 5th place. In her next start she was placed in a turf MSW race where she again pressed right on the lead and took over in the final stretch and held on to win posting a 69 speed rating for the 6 furlong race. She is the only speed in this short 4 horse field and may be tough to catch if Bowen(20.4%) rates her well. This is the top jockey on the circuit at the moment so this one may be very tough to beat here today.
4)MILLVIEW REASON(ENG)—9/2—perdido1 sends this filly out of KYLACHY(GB) with a record of 1-1-0-0 and lifetime earnings of $4,860. She races for the Deep Rock orgainization that is based in Ohio. She comes into this race out of her MSW win in Mexico where she closed from midpack to win in the stretch posting a 65 speed rating in the 5.5 furlong race on a dirt track listed as good. Since she seemed to enjoy the soft dirt her connections are going to try the turf for this filly in today’s race. Klein (7.5%) will be the jockey in the irons on this filly today.
NOTE #1 UNO CITY KITTY(FL) IS ELIGIBLE FOR THE 200 CREDIT MINNESOTA DOWNS RESIDENCY PURSE SUPPLEMENT IF SHE WINS THIS RACE.
WHAT’S HAPPENING AT THE MINNESOTA DOWNS RESIDENCE THIS WEEK
Well the last 24 hours have been difficult times at the Minnesota Downs residence with the message board crashing and no backup on hand but the resident management have worked hard at getting a new board up which is much faster with no delay’s at all and to establish as many sticky posts as can be remembered. The difficult part is trying to remember some of the old threads as this writer usually has problems enough remembering what he had for breakfast this morning.
The Minnesota Last Man Standing contest starts today in race 4716 with 17 Minnesota sired 2 year olds racing against each other every 4 weeks. Each race the last placed horse is eliminated from the contest and the last horse standing will end up winning a 1000 credit prize for the owner.
I would mention this weeks Chuckrock’s Horse of The Week selection in this spot as well as the Speed Rating winner in this slot but being since the old posts have been lost in cyberland I have to admit I really do not have a clue as to either who the horse was and who the contest winner was. Must have been the 6 bottles of Tequila i drank last night, Naah–I drink that every night—I think?,,Can’t remember.
The No Mercy scheduled to start this week has been postponed to start in week 3266 due to the technical difficulties.
All should be back to normal next week at Minnesota Downs.
GOOD LUCK AND GOOD RACING
