Si’ Amigo Sprint Stakes – Grade II

Race : Si’ Amigo Sprint Stakes – Grade II – $250,000Track : Spain

This Saturday the Spanish horse racing community will gather for the Si’ Amigo Sprint Stakes Grade 2 Race. Seven furlongs will be run over a fast dirt track with a $250,000 prize on the line. A full field of fourteen of top three year old a up runners are set to take to the gates in what should be an exciting race, loaded with four pace setters which should guarantee a quick break and fast pace.

PP 1: Liziro(CHI) – jayjay99 – 15/1 – R Craigs

At the end of his career, he will be looking to regain his old form and make a return to the top. Although the chance is still there if he can get back to his to form, I’d be weary of his recent lack of success at the stakes level. Overall, this is a great horse who is just past his prime.

PP 2: Smart Quest – bizor – 20/1 – D Travers

Another top horse who seems past his prime. Bizor has dropped his distance from his regular mile distance, likely in attempt to pull something special from this horse. Coming off a poor ten furlong race, I would look for this horse to be hungry to prove it’s worth. Overall, not one of the favorites in my book, but he holds an outside shot at it if Travers can work some magic on the saddle.

PP 3: Walksthroughwalls – oaklawn66 – 6/1 – T Monk

Coming off a disappointing fifth place run in the Kentucky BB Sprint, he will e aiming to bounce back with a strong race. He has won two of his last 4 starts, with a close second in one of the others, all in the graded class. This horse is a stud, and will not be a surprise to anyone if he takes this race wire to wire.

PP 4: Run And Hide – lenny3 – 6/1 – G McNabb

This colt has consistently finished near the top posting strong speed ratings running a closing style, however he has failed to pick up a win in his last 6 outings. Many times this would be a result of a horse being entered in a level above where they should be, however his consistency argues that in fact he is at the right level and is destined to come out on top eventually. If this horse can learn to give that little extra push to get out front at the end, he could become a force in the dirt sprinting division.

PP 5: Tale Of Auror – auror – 15/1 – F Prieto

After two consecutive wins, this colt is being pushed up to the graded level. This will be a defining race, as Walksthroughwalls is a premier wire to wire horse, and to win, Tale of Auror will have to outrace him from the start. In his favor is the fact that his last race shows he has no problem running side by side for the race out front, so he will not have to push too hard to get a lead early, and sticking right with the leader should be enough. This is his big chance to make a name for himself in such a strong field.

PP 6: Glide Slope – super30 – 10/1 – D Craft

Coming in with a two race win streak, he’s looking to have a better graded showing than the Scottsdale BB Stakes where he came 13th with a terrible showing. He’ll need a perfect run to be a major factor, but with Craft on board, never factor out perfection.

PP 7: Natatakaroar – ontarget2 – 12/1 – St Jones

This colt is struggling in the stakes and graded races to even make the money. I would have to suggest holding off the graded races until he can become more consistent at the stakes level. However, dancing with the best may teach this horse a thing or two, and one day everything just may click to bring this horse to the circle. Until then, he will continue tormenting the other front runners and setting the pace.

PP 8: Diabolical Prince – ruffino – 5/1 – C Puschel

This 6 year old really regained his form taking three wins and a place in his last five outings. He’s a great example of how a horse can find itself later in their career after a downturn. A real icon for those trainers who just can’t let go of their old favorites.

PP 9: Smuggler’s Catch – zeplin – 9/1 – M Zeus

Expect a flawless run from this horse with Spain’s number one jockey on board. Zeus has already found success upon this horse in the Wind Geronimo Handicap and will look to lift Smuggler’s Catch to his third straight win, and first graded victory. He will have to do so in a battle with the field loaded with front runners, as many of the horses in this field prefer to get to the early lead, while only one will be able to get there today.

PP 10: Higher Ground – corzak – 99/1 – D Kosar

Here’s a horse whose out of his league. Unable to put together a win recently even at the allowance level, the graded level is not for him. A miracle would be needed for this horse to even break into the money.

PP 11: Barb’s Liesure – leo3 – 14/1 – P Coryatt

A colt who has recently come into form, and is set to challenge at the graded level. He popped off 2 wins before making the jump to graded where on a sloppy track he managed to pull off a third place finish. This fast track is what this horse prefers, and this will be his big shot to show the racing community what he’s made of.

PP 12: Rainbow Phyl – sam – 14/1 – H Marshall

Here we have an inconsistent colt, some races he can come out flying, and race like he should have been the favorite, however he also has the races where nothing seems to go right, and he seems out of place even among stakes horses.

PP 13: Dixie Glow – kaif099 – 5/1 – R Usoz

This horse has been consistently in the money at the graded level running strong, and is just sitting on the doorstep waiting for the door to open for a graded win. Hopefully this week he’ll learn that it isn’t a pull door, he has to push himself a little harder to make it through for the graded win.

PP 14: Moneygrowsontrees – cheadle – 12/1 – G Carter

As a four year old, this colt has struggles to regain his three year old form. He just needs to find that spark again, as this one time grade one winner now has trouble even winning an allowance race. It’s not time to give up yet, but something has to be done to get this colt firing again.
