Monsieur Valois Stakes
The MONSIEUR VALOIS Stakes heads the card of racing this week at
PP1: BLACK WEST(KY) 8/1
His last 2 races have resulted in 2 narrow wins, with his last being a win at the distance in an Alw with a Sp# of 95. Will need to improve a little bit today to make the step up to this class, but the form is on the board.
PP2: DYNASPEED(GB) 17/1
Has good form coming into this over the longer trip of 11F, but still has form over this distance 4 starts back. Unfortunately that was in maiden class and the drop back in ground today could make it hard for this little fellow.
PP3: SILVAKI(KY) 6/1
Making the step up from a claiming race last time out, where he won handily. Has run in some much better class races than this one and we could see him running into some of the 2yo form he had today.
PP4: ALPINE ACADEMY(OH) 10/1
Form is only average of late, only running some moderate Sp figures. Hopefully we can see some improvement here, to see him in with a chance at taking home a slice of the purse.
PP5: SISSON’S RED(IRE) 12/1
Alw form has been really good, unfortunately he has let to make the cut at stakes level. Only in the money 4 times from 15 starts show that this guy can be a bit inconsistent at times. Let’s hope he’s on his game today and puts in a competitive showing.
PP6: SUNNYBANK ROBERT(IRE) 9/1
From the much renowned sunnybank stables, this horse has been racing in open Alw races of late. After he won promisingly in a small stakes field 5 starts back he has really struggled to make an impact on the American 3yo circuit. Back to the weaker stakes races over here we could see a bold showing.
PP7: MULL OF GLANOICH(KY) 7/2
The class runner of the field, this bargain breed colt run midfield in the 2000 Guineas last start. Should be the pace setter today, and looks as if he’ll get an easy run out in front. Two time group placed horse, will be hard to run down if he has come through his last run ok.
PP8: JUSTIN MCBRIDE(JPN) 7/1
This poor horse is the bridesmaid of the field, and his name suits. Since winning his 1st start as a 2yo, he has run 5 2nd on end. Will be right on the favorite’s tail and with a bit of luck will be in the finish again. Improves with each and every race.
PP9: GORDUNNI(KY) 14/1
Another on pace runner coming from an outside gate. Very impressive run last start, when he won an Alw recording an Sp# in the low 90’s. Does tend to race hot and cold at times, but not without a chance of filling a minor place.
PP10:
Top jockey D Evans ( 385 – 94 – 86 – 45 – 24% ) takes the ride on this well performed youngster. Been running well in stakes grade without winning but being placed 4 times out of his last 5 runs. Should come from well off the pace and running home hard.
PP11: BAD BEAT(GB) 9/1
A top 2yo, this horse has carried some of the form into his 3yo season with a win and a 2nd from his 3 runs this year. His one disappointment been a stakes over 11f where he didn’t manage to get the distance. Back to his much preferred range today, give this horse another shot at stakes glory.
