This weeks 10th race feature at Minnesota Downs is the 3rd running of The Queen’s Queens Stakes for 2 year old horses going 6.5 furlongs on the Turf. The Supertoy 7 turf course has been listed as good for today’s race.
Let’s take a look at today’s field:
1)MATZ(KY)—32/1—wiedeman sends this 2 year old colt out of BELLAMY ROAD with a record of 1-1-0-0 and $9,660 in lifetime earnings. He is out of the mare JOVIAL YANKEE who was 2/20 at the track with no stakes wins and this is the only foal on record. He races for the AND616 group of stables. The sire has a 17.2% winners percentage with a 0% stakes winners percentage and a 60-40% dirt to turf runner percentage. This colt wired a 4 horse field in his MSW debut on the turf in Ohio 7 weeks ago with a 47 speed rating and moves up in class for this race today. Wabbington (7.5%) will be looking for his 4th win of the season in the saddle today.
2)SAM TYLER(KY)—37/1—lameuniere sends this 2 year old colt out of CAPE TOWN with a record of 2-1-0-0 and $6,240 in lifetime earnings. He races for the Loophole Group of stables. This colt will be making his turf debut today after running on the dirt for his first 2 lifetime starts. He won his MSW debut against a 4 horse field with a 56 speed rating but then came back and was solidly beaten in a NW2L allowance which has his connections trying the surface change for today’s race. His sire has a 74.9% winners with a 6.3% stake winners and a 65-35% dirt to turf ratio. Sprague (7.3%) will be riding this longshot for today’s race.
3)MILLVIEW ZOO(TUR)—12/1—deeprock14 sends this 2 year old colt out of COMMON GROUNDS(GB) in his debut start for today’s race. He races for the Deep Rock group of stables based in Ohio. The sire has a 40% winners rate with a 2% stake winners rate and a 36-64% dirt to turf ratio. Sessions (5.1%) will be looking for his 3rd win of the season aboard this colt in his lifetime debut race today.
4)I B FACTUAL(AUS)—14/1—rugdoctor sends this 2 year old colt out of FACE VALUE with a record of 4-1-0-1 and $4,902 in lifetime earnings. He races for the JRodneyG Stables LLC who are under the care of the Fabulous Fred who is based in the whacky Minnesota Downs backstretch. This colt won his lifetime MSW debut on the turf in Texas with a nice 73 speed rating but has not been able to match that mark in 3 NW2L allowance races since while alternating between the turf and dirt surfaces. He is a speed horse who will need to prove that he can go the 6.5 furlong distance of today’s race. His sire has a 21.4% winners rate albeit a 0% stakes winners rate with an 85-15% dirt to turf ratio. One positive for today’s race is that he will be in the hands of the circuits top rider in Bowlegged Bowen (21%).
5)MR. ELVIS(ENG)—22/1—ajerkens sends this 2 year old colt out of DUBAI DESTINATION with a record of 3-0-2-0 and $24,350 in lifetime earnings. He is out of the mare NECESSARY BEAU who was 7/45 at the track with no stakes wins and has 2 foals on record with neither yet a winner. He races for the Smokeglack group of stables based in Ireland. He was well beaten in his lifetime debut on the dirt against winners but has fared better after switching to the turf with 2 second place finishes in MSW races. While his speed rating have improved in each of the last 2 races this would appear to be a tough spot to break his maiden. Pannier (7.3%) will be looking for his 4th win of the season aboard this colt today. The sire has a 59.2% winners rate with a 5.2% stakes winners rate and a 53-47% dirt to turf ratio.
6)MOON OF QUEENSLAND(JPN)—8/1—graywolf5 sends this 2 year old colt out of MOON BALLAD(IRE) with a record of 2-1-1-0 and $11,885 in lifetime earnings. He is out of the mare WOLF OF QUEENSLAND who was 5/41 at the track including 2 Graded stakes wins and has 4 foals on record all of which are winners. His sire has a 65.9% winners ratio and a 3.4% stakes winners ratio and a 33-67% dirt to turf ratio. He races for the Graywolf empire who have various divisions of their stables spread out all over the globe. This colt broke his maiden in his 2nd lifetime MSW start going wire to wire and posting a 66 speed rating over the 5.5 furlong race. It should be noted that this horse has been based in Minnesota and Merwitz (6.2%) will once again be in the saddle for the third straight time for this colt.
7)RECAPITALIZE(KY)—9/2—pedro1975 sends out this 2 year old filly out of DEHERE with a record of 2-1-1-0 and $42,295 in lifetime earnings. She is out of the mare LITTLE MISS PIGGY who was 1/17 at the track with no stakes wins and has 5 foals of record of which all are winners and 1 is a stakes winner. The sire has a 72.4% winners ratio with a 9.1% stakes winners ratio and a 78-22% dirt to turf ratio. She runs for the Pedro’s Racing Empire based in Australia in the DUR residency. This filly won her MSW debut on the dirt in Dubai and then finished 2nd out of 4 in a NW2L allowance in Japan. She now crosses the ocean to run in her turf debut at Minnesota. And here it was that we thought all the turf racing was done overseas. Welcome to the Supertoy7 Marshall turf course drawing in all sorts of horses from all over the world. Stinson (11.5%) will ride this girl for her turf debut today.
8)PATITO(KY)—9/2—usoz sends this 2 year old colt out of UNBRIDLED’S SONG with a record of 1-1-0-0 and $6,240 in lifetime earnings. He is out of the mare LA PATA DAISY who was 10/36 at the track including 9 stakes wins of which 6 were graded, she was the winner of the English and Sydney Oaks and had over $2.5 million in earnings. This is the first foal of record for this mare. He is owned by the Rafa group of stables who were also the proud winners of the Bluegrass Derby this year and who has stables located in several spots around the globe and has a string of stables based locally in the Minnesota Downs backstretch. This colt won his MSW debut in Montana in a 4 horse field running them all down in the stretch while posting a 62 speed rating in the 5 furlong race. His sire has an 80.4% winners ratio and an 8.7% stakes winners ratio and a 72-28% dirt to turf ratio. Napper (9.5%) will hopefully be able to stay awake aboard this colt until after the race has completed.
9)VALYRIAN STEEL(KY)—6/5—tesio sends this 2 year old colt out of UNBRIDLED’S SONG with a record of 2-1-1-0 and $55,850 in lifetime earnings. He is out of the mare SWORD OF SHANNARA who was 4/27 at the track with no stakes wins and this is the first foal on record. He races for the Galileo group of stables located at the GR Simsters Racetracks incorporated. This colt has the most money won and the highest speed ratings of all of the entries today. He has posted back to back 70+ speed ratings and his closing style indicates that he should like the added distance today which is why the track oddsmaker Mr Minnesota Fats has listed him as the heavy morning line favorite. He just failed to score in his lifetime debut in a GR Simster Restricted stakes but came back to win a MSW turf sprint in New York next time out. The Friar Tuck himself (20.3%) will be riding this one today.
10)CREDIT RUN(IRE)—8/1—oasis3 sends out this 2 year old filly out of HURRICAN RUN(IRE) with a record of 3-2-0-0 and $18,840 in lifetime earnings. This filly runs for the Oasis Racing UK empire which has its North American division located right here in The Minnesota Downs backstretch under the watchfull care of Big Boy Brentuk. Her sire has a 21.2% winners ratio albeit a 0% stakes winners ratio and a 36-64% dirt to turf ratio. She won her 1st pair of lifetime starts before regressing while trying Graded stakes company in her last race. She drops down in class here but will have to face the boys again today but is she can duplicate her NW1X allowance win 2 starts back in North Carolina she should be in the hunt of things today. Green (8.8%) will try to earn some green for this fillies connections today.

WHAT IS HAPPENING AT THE MINNESOTA REZ THIS WEEK
Chuckrock won the speed rating contest last week with his horse SKYFISH who posted a 103 speed rating.
Pazjazz became the latest Minnesota resident to conquer the lofty Mount Everest by having his horses place in 6 different categories and he has won 1000 credits for the lofty feat.
CHUCKROCK’S MINNESOTA DOWNS HORSE OF THE WEEK LAST WEEK went to our resident THE OLD GUY with his 4 year old filly CHATEAU SHY GIRL (IRE)—EL PRADO(IRE) X RAHY X DYNAFORMER who has won 6 of 7 lifetime after having debut this year as a 4 year old. She finished 2nd in a Stake Race in Italy in her previous start but became a black type winner this past week while winning The Rapid Challenge stakes in Australia posting a lifetime best 105 speed rating in the 6.5 furlong turf sprint. Good luck in the future with this horse and The Old Guy wins 50 credits to go along with her HOTW honors.
