Speedsters on the Grade III Bob Barker at Wyoming

The Price is Right. It is $125,000, and a total of eleven fillies will travel six furlongs to contest the Grade III Bob Barker Stakes, which will be the feature for this weekend in Wyoming. The race will be run over a fast main course, and lest take a look at the contestants:

  1. A.J. MICHEALS (MD) – 3 year old filly by Waquoit – She maybe is the speed of the speed in this race, and coming off from longer distances, she should be poised for a great effort here this weekend. Trainer salsabil brings her filly on short rest; this is why he is just giving her easy gallops over the track, just to maintain her nice actual form. She draws the rail which can be somewhat of a problem, but her speed should be her best allied and she is one of the top contenders in this field, at juicy odds of 11-1.
  2. UNPOPULAR (KY) – 3 year old filly by Rahy – This is a lightly raced filly that has shown great promise in her short career, already winning one stakes race and placing in another one. She is coming off a seven week layoff, so trainer simsters7 should have her ready to roll today. The six furlongs is the shortest that this filly has ever traveled, so is a questions mark whether this distance is suited for her. But she is doing great in the mornings, likes to come from just behind the leaders and we should give her a nice chance in here.
  3. CRYSTAL SEER (KY) – 3 year old filly by Silver Deputy – This is a winning machine, the kind of horses I always love. Six wins out of ten lifetime starts, and already packing in over $200,000 in purse money. She gets a nice five week freshener from her trainer borrow2, which hopes she can rebound from that last start, which was uncharacteristically discreet. She loves to come from way off the pace, and come roaring in the final furlong, and if she can have an honest pace up front, she will be very dangerous here.
  4. COUGHT YOU (KY) – 3 year old filly by Malibu Moon – Another filly who likes to be part of the early flight and has proven capable of stretching out that speed to distances further that the six furlongs to be traveled in here. She is coming from her best lifetime effort, a second place finish in the Grade III Dallas Stud Command Stakes. Trainer bautista takes the logical step, repeating her at this same condition. The two week quick turn around does not bothers me, because she was coming from a three month rest, so she will be ready for her best effort today, and is my favorite to win in this event.
  5. FLEETWOOD MIA (TUR) – 3 year old filly by Strike the Gold – Winner of the Grade III Flurry Stakes, coming from the middle of the pack to score. She now takes a cutback in distance, hoping the six panels will be enough for her to develop her late surge. For trying to help her, trainer fleetwood breezed her two furlongs, looking to get a little more speed out of her. She needs for a hot pace to be established in the race, and if this happens, she has a great chance for her second graded win in a row.
  6. LUCKYPROSPECTOR (PA) – 3 year old filly by Sonny Hines – This will be another contributor to a hot and contested early pace, and I suspect trainer easterlyii will sent her filly right up front, trying to take them wire to wire. Her SFs are very competitive if we compare them to the best in here, but the presence of other quality speedsters make the race a difficult one for her. Anyway, due to that early zip, we can not discard her completely.
  7. SUPER LASIX (IRE) – 3 year old filly by Giant’s Causeway – Filly that likes to sit in the coveted garden spot and from there make her run from the quarter pole on. Fellow Del Penn trainer super17 enters her filly here after a narrow victory in the ARSE Domination Series, a race in which she was on the fight for the lead from the start and prevailed after a prolonged duel on the stretch. This filly is unquestionably on the improvement side, and if she keeps on that trend, her chances are big for her first graded win.
  8. GISSA NUMBER (KY) – 3 year old filly by Sky Classic – Lightly raced filly that has shown affinity to the seven furlong distance, and now shortens back to six furlongs, looking for a little more zip in her final surge. Trainer evefly rolls the dice here, looking for a come from behind win, but understands his filly will have to improve on her best SF to have a chance here. Her last race was disappointing, as she just never fired in the Plate Exalt Challenge in Idaho. She keeps doing nicely in the mornings and we hope for a better effort out of her.
  9. TIRED WINGS (KY) – 3 year old filly by Pollard’s Vision – This is another speed ball which will ensure a brisk pace in this event. In his short career, she has demonstrated that knows how to get to the wire, with four wins in just six starts, including a graded win in her last race. The problem she has is the amount and quality of the speedy runners we have in this contentious field. In talking with her trainer kaif014, he tells us that, trying to take advantage of the great post she drew, he looks to have her filly just behind the pace. If she is able to rate in that garden spot, she is mighty dangerous.
  10. SLENDER CAT (KY) – 3 year old filly by Cat Thief – Good and reliable performer, she has placed in ten out of eleven lifetime starts, including a stakes win. Her style of racing suggests that the biggest obstacle she faces is the six furlong distance, as she has performed much better at six and a half and seven furlongs. Her trainer mrkron is hopeful that the speed duel that should develop in here helps her filly’s chances to nail them at the wire. She is definitely not without a chance, but at a short 6/1 price I will pass on her.
  11. CHASING THE WIND (KY) – 3 year old filly by Unbridled’s Song – Filly that likes to run on the second flight of her races and from there stalk the leaders and pound on them from the three sixteenths pole on. She draws a favorable post in the gate, just perfect for her style of racing. Trainer farm304 tells us that his filly is still just learning to run, and her last effort, a win in a restricted stakes race, served her nicely to give her the confidence to keep on winning. The race sets up as a script written for her, and she is a force to be reckoned with in this race.
