Odds galore at Victoria
The RAPID Challenge Stakes is the feature event for racing at
PP1: GANGLORD 9/1
This mare is ranked 119 in the turf sprint category and is trained by simsters6. Ran a very smart race last start at
PP2: ERMINGTON KID 6/1
A big plus is winning at this course and distance last start, producing a triple figure Sp#. Frankie Moon rode her that day, today P Lipps ( 115 – 13 – 14 – 13 – 11% ) takes the ride, and will be hoping to pay back the connections of this horse for having the faith in him over Frankie. She has had a 5 week let up between runs, and the freshen up will do her the world of good. If she can continue her last start form, she’ll be in with a chance.
PP3: CHATEAU SHY GIRL(IRE) 9/1
This girl has never been out of the money in all her races. She’s won 5 from 6 and placed once, which was last start when she stepped up to stakes level. Most of her racing has been over more than 7F, so we can only hope she is not run off her legs here. Punters not prepared to risk her over the shorter distance, even though her form is excellent.
PP4: GOODBYE KISS 4/1
With 14 wins to her name and nearly $1 million in earning, this mare is the most experienced runner of the field. She’s raced in much better class than this, and is well traveled. Another horse dropping back from her usual distance today, this could be a concern. Hardly ever out of the placings, expect her to be hot on the tails of the leaders.
PP5: FIT OF JOY 7/1
A very well breed Sadler’s Wells mare, who’s form has just tapered a bit of late. She’s been getting a little tired at the end of her races even though she has been trying hard and running good sectionals. Might just be over the top and looking for a spell.
PP6: BARB’S SPOOKY 7/2
Ranked 37 and 10 wins to her name, this horse is an exceptional mare. She beat a small field last start by 2 ½ lengths, and was not far away in the Castle Point Stakes G2 before that. Has been recording some handy Sp# too. Look for her to be about midfield and running into it at the top of the straight. I’d think trainer lukebarn, would be fairly confident of her chances today.
PP7: STARINSKY 11/1
Starinsky is going to need to improve on recent racing to be in with show today. She hasn’t broken 100 in her last 8 starts and has even gone down as far as low 80’s. Her run last start was an improved effort, going head to head for the lead, only to fade in the last furlong. My pay for trainer txbred to give jockey L Ward ( 80 – 9 – 11 – 5 – 11% ), instructions to ride the mare a little further back today, and see if she can get home rather than fatigue in the last bit.
PP8: GONE DEEP 9/2
This mare has been switching tracks between dirt and turf in recent outings. Although her form is good on both, she is yet to break through on the turf. Punters are betting the today is the day, and im not willing to say otherwise. Good form and been racing in better class. Must consider.
PP9: GRAND MARNIER(IRE) 27/1
Hard to see this horse making an impression on the race. Her form is only average and her Sp# are not up to scratch. Would be a blow-out if she runs a place. Can’t have in this.
PP10: DREAMY KYOGLE 12/1
Drawn the outside gate, Dreamy Kyogle will be looking to drop out after the start and tail the entire field. Hasn’t really been making up any tremendous ground is recent runs, and will pay to wait until she hits form again.
Whisper from the Wizard (value bet):
It’s hard to find any real value in such an open field, like it is today. When you find yourself in a situation like this it is best to go with the horse with form on the board. Chateau Shy Girl is an up and coming type, and looks to have some improvement yet. Ran a bold race at big odds last start in her first try at stakes level. Trainer theoldguy, would be very happy with her progress and is expecting her to improve again today. At odds of 9/1, its must be very tempting to put a couple of thousand sim bucks aside for this horse.
