Eurosilver Wins Ascot Mile

The highlight race, and last race on the card, for this weekend in Ascot was the running of the Ascot Mile (G2), open for all three year old horses. The rain stayed away from the track this day, leaving it to come up listed as firm at post time as the field of eight made its way through the post parade and to the starting gates. All horses loaded easily save R Loyal Man, who balked at the gate and had to be lured in. All horses loaded now the tense waiting began for the break of the race.

Despite his reluctance to go into the gate it was kbsweet owned and trained R Loyal Man who was out to an early lead of the rest of the field by two and one-fourth lengths over Unintentionally, owned by pjlracing. Running behind in third was roberto trained Eurotrash. Battling in fourth and fifth were We Hardly Knew Ya along with Gateaux De Boeuf (IRE), trained and owned by doctahg1 and beefcake2 respectively. Out of the gate last was Jedi Ransom (ENG), trained by kyclocker9, who was trailing the leader by eight and one-fourth lengths.

R Loyal Man then went on to increase his lead to three and a half lengths over Unintentional with Eurotrash still running in third. In fourth and fifth were still We Hardly Knew Ya and Gateaux De Boeuf. Trailing by twelve and a half lengths was Jedi Ransom (ENG).

Just before the stretch it was R Loyal Man still in the lead though dropping the pace and only holding a one and one-fourth length lead on the quickly gaining Unintentional and Eurotrash. We Hardly Knew Ya and Gateaux De Boeuf (IRE) weren’t giving any ground away in fourth and fifth. Gaining in sixth was kensei owned American Werewolf. Moving up into seventh was Jedi Ransom (ENG) who passed up Yesimalllitupagain (JPN), owned by themainman, who was now trailing by thirteen lengths with the wire quickly approaching.

Down to the wire they came and it was the pace-stalking Eurotrash to take the win under jockey P. Funk by two and one-fourth lengths, while recording a speed figure of one hundred two, over second place finisher Unintentionally. We Hardly Knew Ya rounded out the top three finishers.

Also rans include: R Loyal Man, American Werewolf, Gateaux De Boeuf (IRE), Jedi Ransom (ENG), and Yesimalllitupagain (JPN).
