Gonzalez is Speedy in Ireland

In Ireland on Saturday, The ONE MINSTREL Memorial, for two-year-olds over a mile on good dirt, went to Gonzalez Sergio(IRE), who was ridden by M. Russell for the ruby9 stable. Glide Slope made the early running, with the other runners, apart from the winner, in close pursuit. Russell kept the son of Swain(IRE) some three lengths behind the rest of the field until making headway from the halfway point.

At the head of affairs, Fuzzy Magic, under E C Doyle, took up the running with two furlongs to go. Gonzalez showed a terrific turn of foot down the home straight to take the lead as they approached the finish, winning by half a length. Woodyna passed the tiring Glide Slope to take third place near the line, some two and a half lengths behind the winner.
