BB Vimes Turf Distaff

Six lucky bargain bred F/M vie for $125,000 in this turf event. Kudos to Knightmare for putting this series together! The field in this is very competitive, so let’s try and sort them out.

OVER HIGHLAND 5/2 – Reigning champion of this event last year, this mare may be on her downward swing in W&T; but she still has what it takes to get the job done. She’s a three time stakes winner who can take it to the limit distance wise. She has won from 6f to marathon, and is dangerous every time she steps on to the track. This is the second time her trainer has owned her after she sputtered racing on dirt early in her career. She should be coming on in the stretch here.

THE SUN KING 9/2 – Filly had 15 tries before breaking her maiden in a 15,000 event. Claimed for 4000 by present owner, this gal likes the distance in this. Coming off two starter allowance events in which she ran 2nd and 3rd. As we all know, starter allowance draw some tough fields. Since she closed in both events, we’re looking for a run in the stretch here. Decent jock adds flavor. CPU likes her chances for a possible good run, so why should we argue with that?

SINO CRUISE BILL 12/1 – 5yo mare is the long shot in this. She’s a plodder that is longwinded, and when placed in a field of like kind can run forever. Probably wants the lead in this and her SP’s aren’t that far off the average here making her a contender. When this gal is hot she can string wins in a row. New owner is hoping she’s due for a big race. Jock is a concern as he is very sporadic with a low win rate.

BARTON ALM 8/1 – Another bargain filly that has of yet shown all of her potential. Looking at her PP’s, she has only one race on dirt with a credible SP, and may just like that surface. She would really have to make a jump here to be a factor for the winner’s circle, but IMO may be better on the brown stuff. At any rate, she likes to bring home the bp bacon.

NOT A MOO COW Even – Filly has three stakes wins, including a G3 back in 2005. She loves being on or near the lead in these routes, and should have no problem with that here. Rested well for this event, she seems to be in a very sharp state of fitness. With Dr. Fager looming large in here breeding, she’s a terror at shorter; but with this field of bargains, she should do fine. As her name suggests, she may be a bargain but she’s no cow 🙂

OUR MOON(FR) 7/1 – Proficient on dirt or grass this filly has yet to show her best. Typical of bargain breeds, she had a humble beginning. She broke her maiden in a 2000 claimer and went on to compete in mostly starters and claimers. She did take an NW2L allowance in a short field also. She runs sprints, routes, grass, and dirt. She’s a BP machine in her class, and probably will have many owners throughout the rest of her career.
