A Great Start to the BB Day.
Breeders Bowl Undercard Youth Turf Sprint Stakes
Grade III
Four and one half furlongs on Firm Turf
$125,000
All horses, 2 years old
In the very first race of Breeders Bowl day in Kentucky, the Breeders Bowl Undercard Youth Turf Sprint was won by a colt that wanted to get things started in a big way. SYN CITY took off at the bell and never looked back, winning in a wire to wire run that was a message to other two year olds that this horse is ready to break out.
The win was his fourth in nine tries and third Graded win. He is actually three for five, all Graded on turf after trying back and forth on dirt a few times. Trainer XXXStable will probably keep him on the grass now as he has moved to the number two turf sprinter. He also has moved his earnings up over $370k.
JENNA’S DEPUTY held the number two spot in the race until late in the stretch when she was passed by three horses to finish fifth but only two and a half behind the winner. A wonderful race was ruined for pre-race favorite RAINBAND who was close to seven lengths back and in thirteenth at the half and seemingly just ran out of real estate at the end. If the race were another furlong or so it appears that he would have won but settled for second. CREDIT APLICANT took third and JUDDMONTE FAME barely nudged out the aforementioned DEPUTY for fourth by a whisker.
It was a great way to start off this tremendous racing day and a real feather in the cap of both XXXStable and his prized colt SYN CITY.
Good luck to all runners!
