Spotlight Pre-Breeders’ Bowl Race of the Day: Claim, Idaho 10/29
A short 4.5 furlong turf race is shining in the Spotlight that has brought a short 5 horse field to Idaho. They are all non-winners of two races and are the age of two. A short claim price of $6,250 has been placed on this six horse, all male field.
1-Afleet Alamo 16/1-Speed is the name of the game and this guy has had problems. He’s raced only once on the turf but all his races have been stuck in the 50’s bracket. He has been a double-digit long shot in all starts but does get some class relieve as he drops out of allowance to a more suitable claiming race.
2-Baba Clunk 9/1-Has been pretty consistent with finishing ITM 5 of 6 starts. Despite the consistent results, his top speed hit 60 and there are others that are exceeding that right now. Looks good in the claiming group but will need to pick things up a bit more to steal this race.
3-Italian Deelite 5/2-Broke maiden in last start racing in $5k claiming event after dropping from $20k level and scored 72 speed in the race. The drop in level was a winning move and this guy has been ITM in each of his 5 starts. Looks good in this race.
4-Noisyness 4/1-On the turf this guy has been very competitive with a record of 1-4-0 in five outings. A career top speed of 69 was gained in the last start with $15,000 claimers and takes a drop of a few notches. Very possible that he will set the pace and may have trouble holding on if he does so. Still should go well in this field.
5-Makecentskirby 7/5-With 8 career starts only two of them have been on the turf. In both cases, he finished second and his last start was on the grass on an off-track where he charted a speed of 68. He’s been racing with allowance company all year and ventures into a claiming race for the first time, with a steep discount. The drop could be a significant edge.
6-Shattered Shower 7/2-Similar to the #5 horse, this entrant has 7 career starts and two on the turf. He ran his last start with $15,000 claimers on the grass and finished second. His prior turf run was in April and was off the board. He ran a 64 speed in the last start and missed by only a quarter stride. A bit of improvement could shower some riches this guys way.
Italian Deelite looks good here and I think he’ll take this one
Makecentskirby gets the big drop in class and the winner’s circle is within reach.
Noisyness will have something to say and gets third spot.
