COLD STORAGE crushes Turf Distaff
By ITCH
The 2006 Breeders Bowl Turf Distaff was over as soon as it started.
Springtime’s COLD STORAGE ($8.20) demolished this classy field in a tour de force as impressive as anything this writer ever has seen in six years of watching Simulated races.
Racehorses just are not supposed to be able to do what Cold Storage did in the Turf Distaff. She flew from the gate, building her lead seemingly with every stride until she was on top by an insurmountable eight-plus lengths at one point. The closers did not come running at her until it was way too late.
True, the place filly, pm’s KISS OF BETRAYL(IRE) got within 2 1/4 lengths at the wire, but Cold Storage was always the winner. AFC’s DEVIL’S SLIDE came on nicely to be third, barely nosing out Rafa Usoz’s LA PATA DAISY for the show money. It was a disappointing day for the four-horse Spanish contingent, as none of them finished in the money.
Congratulations to springtime for a magnificent victory.
