Challenge Update: Decent performance this week.

A decent outcome this week with nice collection of Breeding Points as well as with the sire cards.

Results

BORN IN SEPTEMBER who is the child of I Forsee You, a filly that I retired and bred with sire October made her debut as a two year old this week.  She ran in a $20k claiming race, a modest amount to see what she could do and a spot where I could move her up or down based on the results.   In a five horse field, she was the second choice at 2/1.   She pressed the leader early on in the 5.5 furlong turf event and tailed off into fourth, a stride and a half back with a marginal 58 speed.  I’m a bit undecided where to go with her as this was on a yielding surface and the off-track conditions may not have been to her liking.  Collected 20 BP’s and a G-card.

CARD PLAY made his second start switching to the turf from the glass but holding in the maiden $5k claim level.  A slight improvement in speed from 58 to 60 and he did finish fourth.  But traveling from Mexico ton Minnesota brought in no BP’s due to travel cost.  Heck, I thought Minnesota was on the boarder of a foreign country….go figure!  Anyways, got a shiny F-card.

OPPORTUNITY CALLS made his first start for me after claiming him for $5k.   I kept this colt at the same claim level and at a mile but going in the condition of Non-winners of 2 in the past year.  He took up early positioning in the middle of the field and made a nice rally late to finish second, just a bit more than a stride back.  He posted a nice 95 speed, which matched his last outing.   Drew a pair of G-cards from the race (due to large field) and picked up 27 wonderful BP’s.

Another first time starter which was bred using game cards was SOLID KASH CARD.  She ran in a $15,000 claiming race going on the turf.  She was eager to run and went out to the front when the gate opened and just did not have it in her to go all the way.  She was run down in the stretch of the 6f race and finished third.  Got 30 BP’s and HEY!!!!….got another F-card.

Stable Changes

BORN IN SEPTEMBER is going to the farm for a rest as I had to aggressively race 2 year olds.  This creates an opening in the stable and VEGEIMITE ON TOAST has been resting in the farm and will be trained to race again.   I’ve thought of auctioning this guy but will give him another chance after this rest break.

Last week I had 20 G-cards.  I’ve traded 10 in for a pair of F-cards.  Adding to the two I just earned this week, gives me 4 F-cards so I decided to add to the stable.  THE FOUR ‘F’ CLUB was the name given to the three year old that was bred with the cards.   A filly with the bloodline of Tout Seul x Bonus Time Cat x Seasoned Star only connects a bit to Storm Cat.

Totals

SIRE CARDS:

3 G-cards and 2 F-cards earned this week.  I traded up 10 G-cards for 2 F-cards and used all F-cards to breed which leaves me with 13 G-cards .

BP’s

77 BP’s picked up this which advances the total to 336.  I’m now a third of the way to my 1,000 BP challenge total.  Still a long way to go as I’m approaching the mid-point of the 6-month time frame.   I may have to get more aggressive to reach the goal.
