Run to the Bargain Bowl
Hard to believe but we are 10 weeks away from the Bargain Bowl. Championship season is upon us and this is when the action starts to heat up. We just had one of our big juvenile days with the first two year old stakes of the year. We have only 3 days of racing action prior to the day of Bargain Champions, The Bargain Bowl, that will be run in South Africa this year.
For those new to the sim, or older players discovering us for the first time we are the Bargain Bred Racing Series. The series consists of 66 stake races and just as many maidens and allowances restricted to cheap scratch bred runners. The trainers here get a lot for a little although it takes breeding lots of runners and patients to get a good one.
We welcome any sim player to enter into our races, check out our website at www.bargainbred.com for rules of entry. We have two year old maiden races on most race days or maybe you already have a bargain kicking around your stables eligible for our stakes races. Either way you can start running in races next week!

This year’s crop of three year olds have already started to impact races facing older horses. Stratopist is an impressive three year old turf miler who just won the Kamikaze Mile. He started his year off by placing in a G3 race. He won The Bourbon Trail and 100 Guineas in the spring and now is picking on older runners.
This series has a very competitive group of older dirt runner both colts and mares. Impressive dirt miler Redfinger has taken both one mile dirt races this year and will look to take his third next week. Open to Alumni is a lightly raced four year old who may be coming into his own off an impressive three length win in the Bargain Summer Classic. For the mares Lle Creoso, Fort War, Libri Prohibiti, and Know Why are just a few of the top runners who routinely beat up on each other. Impressive three year old Oaks winner Her Price is Right may be best in sprints or at a mile but she I coming off a nice allowance win earning a 107 speed figure. Mahia Trust is another three year old filly doing well and she is more of a classic distance runner.
The sprint divisions have been dominated by three runners. In the colt races Got the Touch has now won three of the last four dirt sprints dating back to last year. Traditional Code found new life as a sprinter and she has won both dirt sprints for fillies and mares as well as running second to Got the Touch in the Broadway Sprint. On the turf it has been all Stratum Kahal. In addition to winning both bargain turf sprints he has finished well at the top level in turf sprints. In his last two races he was a tough fourth place finishing a quarter length back in a G3 and three quarters of a length in a G1. Three year old Eyeing the Brew has won both dirt sprints for three year olds and should add to the great group of sprinters jockeying for position on their way to the Bargain Bowl.
October 3rd is the next set of races. Only a couple of stakes but several maidens for two year olds. Nominations for these races are due September 27. Check out our website, and even join us on our message board.
Nice article Knightmare. I joined the residency 6 years ago and highly recommend checking the website out.
Nice feature article!
Without bbrs, the sim would be just half of the fun for me. It’s the best series in whole simulation! Definitely deserves more attention.
Hey, so i tried joining the res some months back and i even sent screenshots but never got an answer…what should i do?
Hey Derek. I apologize if I did not get back to you. I have Accepted Jet, Crowd Stormin, Dereks Devil, Dow Gold and Three Davids in the database. I see you have a user on our message board. Come on over to the board and nominate any runners you have to the races you would like to enter. I will reach out to you via email as well. Thanks
Ok awesome thank you knightmare, ill have to when i get on a computer i mostly just play on my phone
Good stuff! I enjoy this series every year
Anyone can breed a 1000 BP share to a grade A retired mare
Let’s see what you can do when you’re limited to what you can spend. 😉
Best!
LG
been in the sim since around 2000 i think. never noticed the series until today. thats all i breed is scratch breds so going to take a look at it. where do i see the restrictions.
I think it’s never late to join :). All necessary is written in that mentioned webpage – http://bargainbred.com/rules/ . Basically, scratch bred under 120bps/crds and for sure to have screenshot with sire shares for Knightmare to easily recognize, the horse is bargain.
Also join our message board – http://knightmarebbrs.proboards.com/ and discuss everything, that you need to know 😉
