BONANZA!
A REAL BONANZA
12 horses line up for the PHEASANT RIVER BONANZA over 6.5f on the hallowed turf of Mississippi this week. There looks to be plenty with a chance so lets take a look.
1 – DEATH GRIP (AUS) 23-1 – Has a good strike rate and returns to turf after a string of dirt runs, has his work cut out for him here and would need to be at his very best to be competitive.
2 – SACK THE YAK 14-1 – Ranked 19th in the world of turf sprinters and had in excess of $380,000 in his short career. He is a 3yo taking on the older boys and has produced much better results against his own age. This is the test.
3 – GRANDPA JACK 9-1 – Has ran a couple of nice placings over 7f in similar company of late before an average one last start. Definitely a place hope if his mind is on the job.
4 – SJENG SCHALKEN (AUS) 9-1 – Won a Stakes race over this trip last start just hanging on. Is a bit hit or miss and may find this lot a little to quick early. Has the credentials but I’d be a lot more confident over 6f
5 – PJ NORDIC DAWN (FR) 5-1 – A terrific horse who loves this trip and will take some beating here today. Hard to go past on his latest form and definitely one of the main chances
6 – AMSHARAAN (GB) 20-1 – Hasn’t shown a lot at this level as yet and his better results are over a little bit shorter. I’d be surprised to see him feature here after he finished 7 1/2 lengths behind Sjeng Schalken last start and even he will find this one tough. Will need luck.
7 – INCENTIVE 9-2 – Has ran a few real beauties of late and will be hitting the line hard. Consistantly runs SP’s in excess of 100 and oozes class. A top hope.
8 – DONE THE CORZAWAY (IRE) 14-1 – Taking the big step up to stakes level after consistant placings in restricted events. Will find this one a lot harder and would need to improve sharply to be a main chance.
9 – BERT AND ERNIE II 16-1 – has a good career strike rate but hasn’t shown much of late and could be struggling here.Is yet to post a victory on turf and that doesn’t augur well against some of the planets better turf sprinters.
10 – RIVER LODGE (IRE) 7-2 – Looks very well placed here after a super win last time out. If he can repeat that effort he will almost certainly win this one. He is very classy and will provide a great spectacle flashing down the outside late. The main hope.
11 – KNICK KNACK 9-1 – Earns a start here after some very consistant performances in restricted allowance company. Has met a tough field but has deserved his go at the level. I’m not sure if this is the race for him but he may be one to keep an eye on in a slightly easier even. Very consistant.
12 – BARBS LAZYBONES (GB) 7-1 – Placed in stakes company 4 runs back and followed it up with an allowance win. defintiely good enough for a race like this but will find it hard to beat the 3 favorites. Place chance.
My Tips: 7 -10 – 5
A great race and definitely one that could surprise. Good luck to all concerned and good punting!
