Will the Pirate get the chant right In the G1 LIAR’S POKER

I somehow found myself in Kentuckey for the $500,000 G1 LIAR’S POKER SPECIAL on a firm turf for this 6 furlong event. And what an interesting race it looks there are some horses what look to be here to watch the bigboys run.Any way there is going to be planety of speed in this race LOL

here is the field

1-Avenger’s Miesque           23/1          Jockey A.Naber

 Trained by Theavenger

Miesque’s Son colt with 5 wins out of 18 starts, this year Avenger’s Miesque has won twice in allowances on turf and dirt.

His last five races have been turf(98),dirt(96),turf(79)in a 6.5 furlongs race, dirt(77) and his last race of 94 where he finish 3rd 2-1/2 lengths in a 7.5 furlong  turf allowance.

The CRITIQUE point of view

LOL  Avenger’s Miesque  has not  been in this company before so it is hard to see how he will go,But one must look at his only attempt in a stakes where he finish 5th.And he hasn’t hit the 100 mark yet .

Can see him hitting the 100sp mark but not in this race, will do well not to finish distance.

2-On Hold          7/1                        Jockey L.Cardinal

Trained by  Derbycity

Hold That Tiger colt has 9 wins from 25 starts; so far this year On Hold already had 15 starts. And he has won 7 of them they were 6 stakes races, one allowance and 5 2nds in stakes which one was in a dirt stakes.

His last 5 runs been all on turf with the 104 being his highest ever speed.

The CRITIQUE point of view

LOL On Hold loves to run; he is running nearly every second week in stakes races and almost keeps winning them. The only real failure he has was in the G2 Winthorpe Stakes  5 furlongs where he ran 7th beaten by 2 lengths.

LOL what can I say, apart from this will be his 16th start this year which may see his next failure against a G1.

3-Northern Pirate          5/1                        Jockey B.Sipe

Trained by  Jockymax

Belong To Me colt who has 7 wins from 12 starts which have all been this year, Northern Pirate started off on dirt winning 5 then switched over to turf for 3 starts winning 2 and 1 second. One of those wins was G1 The Telling Lies and Getting Paid Stakes 6 furlongs.

His last 5 runs took a interesting turn  after twice running 89 sp’s on dirt ,then Northern Pirate went on turf with his highest 3 sp’s 105,101 and his last one 106 which won G1 The Telling Lies and Getting Paid.

The CRITIQUE point of view

LOL What a move from dirt to turf and then allowances to G1, can Northern Pirate’s stay unbeaten at G1 level.

It is going to be tough

4-Northern Chant            7/1                        Jockey D.Sherman

 Trained by  Jockymax1

War Chant colt who has won 9 from 18 starts, this year has won 5 and all been stakes races. And also ran 3rd in the G1 Never Ready Sprint 6 furlongs.

Northern Chant  in the last 5 runs has ran a 93,97,106,104,94 with the 94 getting him a 3rd place in a 6 furlong allowance.

The CRITIQUE point of view

LOL Northern Chant   likes to be the leader in his races, and is very hard to catch despite an off race in the allowance where he ran 3rd.He had 2 attempts in this company winning one and finishing 3rd to runs ago.

He may not be as good as Northern Pirate, but he will make him chase him.  Jockeymax might LOL if he gets the exacta.

5-I Make Stuff Up             5/1                       Jockey D.Givins

Trained by  Lenny 3

Mineshaft colt with 5 wins out of 11 starts, this year after one run on dirt the change to turf netted I Make Stuff Up   4 wins  and 2 G1 placings  2nd and 3rd @ 6 furlongs.

His last 3 runs are the ones what going to test the top horses 97,93,102,111,103  with the 111 being the highest sp in this field.

The CRITIQUE point of view

LOL  I Make Stuff UP nose defeat in the G1 Never Ready Sprint shows what danger this horse is,also in that race was Northern Chant   who finish 3rd and behind I Make Stuff UP by 3-1/2 lengths .Lenny once again is drooling over his  chances in this race.

I Make Stuff UP runs close to the 111 he did 2 runs back, Lenny will not only drool more then he did that race but will be licking his lips for the future.

6-Woette’s Power             31/1                   Jockey P.Cadigan

Trained by  Stars1

Mountain Cat  colt who has won 6 times from 15 starts, even though he has not won a race this year he did run a  good 2nd in the G1 Richard Migllore @ 6 furlongs & 2nd in the G2 After Shave Sprint @ 6 furlongs. .

Woette’s Power   recent 5 runs and speeds aren’t the best in field two of those 5 runs were against older horses. Woette’s Power  highest is 93 when he ran 2nd in the G2 After Shave Sprint

The CRITIQUE point of view

LOL Woette’s Power  is going to find it difficult in this as in the G1 Never Ready Sprint where he ran last but got a feeling he wont be last in this.

If some how Woette’s Power  can find the form where he finish 2nd in the G1 Richard Migllore & G2 After Shave ,he may make his odds look foolish.

7-Six Guns Blazing               15/1                                              Jockey B.Drewery

Trained by  Murray 2

Pine Bluff colt has 4 wins from 15 starts; he has won 2 allowances this year with 2 stakes 2nds on good turf.

His last 5 runs even though they been good, he looks outclassed in a G1

The CRITIQUE point of view

LOL Surprise he is @ 15/1 and not the longest roughie in this field, not saying he has no talent because he has with his stakes 2nds,but his odds are too short for a race like this.

If it was on a good turf and a stakes race he would be a chance, hope he runs well though.

8-Government Listing           12/1                                            Jockey V.Wright

Trained by  Tegan

Smart Strike colt who has won 5 from 17, he has 1 win  in a 8 furlong allowance and 2 8 furlongs furlong stakes 2nds.he did manage to snag a 3rd in the G1 Richard Migllore.

Government Listing    recent runs been mainly a mile, his last 2 efforts been a 4th in G3 10 furlongs & 5th in a G3 8 furlongs. His highest sp was an 88 when he ran 3rd in the  G1 Richard Migllore

The CRITIQUE point of view

LOL Government Listing   look like he will find this too short for his liking on the runs he been having. And his trainer picked a tough race to go back to sprints.

Would be some effort if he runs into a place here.

9-Seattle  Rap Ted                17/1                                             Jockey T.McJulien

Trained by  March 2nd

Brahms colt with the record of 3 wins from 14 starts, with 3 wins this year in 2 allowances and one stakes race @ 8 furlongs and a 3rd in the G3 Roy Rogers Handicap  8 furlongs.

Seattle  Rap Ted has not had a sprint start this year

The CRITIQUE point of view

LOL another one who isn’t really a sprinter, can he surprise with a win

No but would be surprised if he can end up closer then 15 lengths.

10-Steal  My Money              14/1                                             Jockey S.Blood

Trained by  Leftcoasti

Flying Sour colt whose record is 5 wins from 15 starts. This year Steal  My Money  like a fair few others started running on dirt and switch to turf.Winning  an dirt allowance then switch to turf to win  2 stakes races @ 7.5 – 8 furlongs. And 2nds and 3rd in dirt and turf stakes as well.

4 out of the last 5 runs have been on turf with his highest speed is 101 when he won a 7.5 furlong stakes race.

The CRITIQUE point of view

LOL Could  Steal My Money  do that in this race, his last 3 runs are a bit of a worry though after he ran his 101, trainer Leftcoasti then tried him on dirt again he ran a 93 on a good dirt then move back to turf @  9 furlongs to find the G2 Boston Derby too much where he finish 13th.

Hard to say what he is going to do in a race like this, a tough race to do it in

11-Twice As Hard                       5/1                                           Jockey K.Bortz

Trained by  Sdmf 3

Event of the Year colt who has managed  6 wins from 16 starts, this year Twice As Hard has 4 wins all on dirt, 3 allowances and one stakes race, plus 3 stakes 2nds.

Twice As Hard has never been on grass ,his recent 5 runs been 96,95,92,108,107 his 2nd last run of 108 was his highest when he won a 8 furlong allowance and his last run of 107 where he finish 2nd in a 7.5 stakes.

The CRITIQUE point of view

LOL Sdmf  you going to have your opposition guessing  whether Twice As Hard will take to the turf like some others in this field. The only 2 failures  Twice As Hard has have been in the G1 The Look How Fast Stakes 6 furlongs & G3  Lost in the Fog Stakes 6 furlongs.

I think the 5/1 is too short and risky, particular when Twice As Hard top speeds have been @ longer distances and his first time on turf, I will pass LOL SDMF

12-Toss Power Trap                   18/1                                         Jockey D.Pagel

Trained by  Boomerslew

Vindication Colt with 3 wins from 9 starts, with all his wins coming this year.He hasn’t been worst then 3rd    running and winning on dirt and turf. His first win was a dirt 6 furlong maiden, then a dirt allowance followed by a turf allowance win.

Toss Power Trap   last 5 runs been  (88)dirt,(86)turf,(89)dirt,(95)dirt, with his highest being 99 on turf when he won by 2 lengths.

 The CRITIQUE point of view

LOL  Toss Power Trap   is going to be facing a huge class test here, he never been in a stakes race so its going to be interesting to see how he performs.

Could perform better then expected will not be surprise if he runs a 100 sp+

13-Omerta Code                         6/1                                           Jockey B.Carley

Trained by  Gradetwo

Sadler’s Wells colt who has won 5 from 13 starts, Omerta Code has won 3 races this year unlike the others where they started off on dirt then switch to turf, he started on turf switch to dirt then back to turf. His first win was a 6 furlong dirt allowance then went onto turf and won 2 stakes in a row @ 7, 7.5 furlongs. His last race he ran 2nd in the G1 The Telling Lies and Getting Paid Stakes 6 furlongs, and a pair of 4ths one in the G1 Never Ready Sprint6 furlongs and the other one was in the G3 Roasting Weanies Stakes 7 furlongs.

Like all the good horses when  Omerta Code switch from dirt to turf his speeds lifted 93 on dirt then the rest were on turf 99,103,102,103  with 103 being his highest speed so far.

The CRITIQUE point of view

LOL  This horse is at the right odds when you look at his record he can play with the big boys in here, his last race in  the G1 The Telling Lies and Getting Paid Stakes he came 2nd by 1-1/4 lengths behind Northern Pirate also in that race was I Make Stuff Up who finish 3rd ¼ behind Omerta Code.

This horse can be the knock out horse for a few trainers, Omerta Code could stop Jockymax getting a 1-2 finish and Omerta Code could stop Lenny from drooling over a victory.

LOL

Here is what i think the top 5 could be

1st 3 Northern Pirate

2nd 13 Omerta Code

3rd 4 Northern Chant

4th 5 I MakeStuff  Up (sorry Lenny cant see you drooling in this race lol)

5th 12 Toss Power Trap

Good luck to everyone lets hope someone ends up drooling with the win
