Few to Take on Hill Star Challenge

Things are quiet in the Pastures of Green this weekend, as a skimpy field of four head to the post in the Hill Star Challenge.  These juvenile lasses will be going 7 furlongs on the grass, and it’s truly anybody’s race this early in the 2yo season.

Barncat                       Zaza                10/1     Gotta love these odds on one of only two fillies in the field to break her maiden.  Her turf race wasn’t spectacular, but a win is a win.  Nice at the price.

Always Nagging         Chrismick        5/1       Has yet to break her maiden after 3 starts on the grass, so I’m not superoptimistic for her, but then again the field is small and not very strong.

Catch Phrase              Vindy               7/5       Rock of Gibraltar filly won her debut comfortably against a field of seven and is looking to make it two-for-two.  Has the best speed figure in the field so far, but her jock is pretty wretched.  Should like stretching out a bit here, so don’t be surprised if she manages to win despite her rider.

Stealer of Souls          Twoofus          3/5       Nicely-bred daughter of Diesis is debuting here, so who knows?  Has the best jock by far in the field and has found a race easier than many MSW fields.  Trainer has placed her well, but she could be anything.

Not much else to say here.  Tons of unanswered questions with these lightly-raced girls.  It could certainly turn into a fun race – tune in and see!
