Torrid early pace for the Black Hearted Stakes

PP1 – Big Mick – Bailey1 – W. Lloyd – 6/1

Greinton / Hawaii / Fabulous Dancer

Out of the 5 Greinton 2yos bred this year this filly is the only winner among them and she is arguably the most promising horse in Bailey1`s yard. Having won what turned out to be a pretty poor MSW over the minimum distance on her debut she was stepped up in both class and distance when narrowly beaten in a 6.5f Stakes. She then travelled over to Dubai for a hot G2 where she ran a respectable 9th of 14 and, LTO at the same track, a 4th of 9 in a 7f NW2 Allowance. If she is able to run nearer to the pace, as in her first two runs, then she would be in with a chance here but she may just lack the quality of one or two of her competitors.

PP2 – Kingmamzig – Ruby7 – K. Ledwith – 10/1

Kingmambo / Danzig / Forty Niner

It`s interesting to note the leading jockey K. Ledwith has chosen to ride this daughter of the G graded dam Danzing Niner. This filly was a winning favourite on her debut but she went on to run quite disappointingly trying both Allowances and Stakes`, dirt and turf. LTO over 6.5f on sloppy dirt at this track she ran her best race since opening her account back in week 2769 and, employing different tactics to come from behind (she wired the field on her debut), she stayed on to finish in the midfield with a 66SP. It`s likely the top rider will hold her up again today but, even though she will relish this extra distance, her form figures suggest she`ll struggle in a field as good as this.

PP3 – Giggeria – Mig – D. Davis – 6/1

Cherokee Run / Honor Grades / Bold Ruckus

With a 15% dirt win average Cherokee Run has had a solid year with his juveniles and this light grey filly, out of a mare by Honor Grades, comes into this race in good form. She probably needed the run on her debut but then won a MSW and an Allowance (5.5/6.5f) where she was never headed on either occasion. LTO she put in a real gutsy performance (5.5f Allowance) where, after racing up with the early pace, she kept on very well only to be worn down in the final strides to finish a game 3/4l 2nd. It`s likely she`ll be up there with the pace throughout this race and she has signalled this greater test of stamina will suit. Her experience should be an advantage and this tough filly is one for the shortlist.

PP4 – Sinister Widow – Aggots – N. Haller – 3/1

Spinning World / High Yield / Nureyev

This chestnut Spinning World filly is the leading light of Aggots` stable and is the clear second favourite. She showed obvious signs of abilty on her debut (Dubai 6f dirt) finishing 2l second and then LTO in a MSW at this racecourse over 6.5f, after tracking the leaders early on, she hit the front just over a furlong out to win by 3/4 of a length. Her breeding suggests this extra half furlong should be well within her compass, she is clearly an improving filly and is likely to go close in this company.

PP5 – Torredembarra – Triska – C. Roser – 6/5fav

Awesome Again / Fusaichi Pegasus / Storm Cat

The favourite and most expensive filly in the line-up is this daughter of the dual Stakes winning racemare Abadia Da Cova. 5 weeks ago on her debut Triska`s filly justified favouritism to land a 5.5f MSW wiring the field and winning by a length. She is thrown straight into Stakes company here for her second start and, considering the style of previous victory, her entry looks fully worthwhile. She lacks the experience of the majority of this field and her stamina over this trip at this stage of her career maybe questionable but, given the expected improvement from her debut and her classy breeding, that may not be enough to stop her.

PP6 – Fastnchaotic – Viperthree – A. Hudson – 8/1

Mobil / Affirmed / Kenmare

Freshman sire Mobil has made a slow start to his sim career and early indications show he could be more of a turf influence but this filly, out of the grade 3 winning racemare Chatic Goose, could be an exception to the rule. The best juvenile in Viperthree`s stable made her racecourse debut in Allowance class and, after bouncing out of the gate, the favourite of 4 never looked like being beaten and she won by just over a length with a 79SP. After that emphatic win she was shipped over to Dubai on her penultimate start for the G2 Red Fish Blue Fish but, after trying to go with the early pace, she was soon dropping back and ended up well beaten in last (12 behind Big Mick in 9th). LTO in a Hong Kong Stakes she again found herself outpaced in the early stages and finished at the back of the field. There`s no doubt her debut was impressive but, because that was in a small field and the way she has ran since, she has to prove that it was no fluke. Hard to Fancy.

PP7 – Gold Cruise – Foxmax – G. Arnold – 11/1

Weekend Cruise / Sea Salute / Gold Legend

From the outside post and least fancied of the 7 comes this cheaply bred daughter of Weekend Cruise and he is the only 2yo that sire has so far this year. Foxmax`s representitive has only raced once so far and that was in a cheap MSW 4 weeks back where, after narrowly leading up till halfway, she tired in the closing stages and finished 3l 3rd with a 72SP. She may just of needed that run and improvement may well ensue but, being the only maiden in the race, she looks like she has plenty on her plate.

Summary

With lots of pace in this race it looks set to be ran at a furious gallop. The blueblooded favourite Torredembarra is clearly the pick on breeding and, after the style she won her maiden in, she is the one they all have to beat. She is the selection although her odds are far from attractive.

Sinister Widow could well have the race ran to suit and it`s easy to see her sitting just behind the early leaders before making a winning move towards the final furlong. It would be no surprise to see her upsetting the clear favourite here and her odds offer much more value.

Big Mick`s run in a highly competitive G2 gives him every chance here but she was slightly dispappointing LTO and Kingmamzig`s SPs are just under the required standard of a few of her challengers.

The tough filly Giggeria will be battling to the end and she is chosen to fill third spot.

1 – Torredembarra

2 – Sinister Widow

3 – Giggeria
