Todays feature at headquartes is the OMNIPOTENT JUVENILE Grade III which as it’s name suggests is for two year olds over seven and a half furlongs. A few outsiders and a notoriuosly hard race to gauge but lets a go-
GATEAUX DE BOEUF (SHAMARDAL x KINGMAMBO x THEATRICAL(IRE))
One win and a second from two runs and looks to want further than the 6f he’s been over so far. Shouls improve on his mid seventies sp’s and looks a lively threat. Will hope to be sitting just off the pace and be able to pounce after the 7f pole.
LAZY DIGGER (GOLD LEGEND x INFIRMATIVE ACTION x CRAFTY PROSPECTOR)
Five runs already, including a stakes win over 5.5f but he only just got home and was beaten miles over 8f latest. Looks a sprinter and will again struggle over this trip.
BLACK THEATRE(IRE) (THEATRICAL(IRE) x BLACK TIE AFFAIR(IRE) x ROUND TABLE)
Two wins from two runs but his latest over 6.5f was close at the finish and he only just held on. Again sp’s in the mid seventies and breeding suggests he should want some distance so exppect a big run and a top three place.
FLYING TARA (MINGUN x KAYF TARA (GB) x ENCOSTA DE LAGO (AUS))
One win from two with mid seventies sp’s but he was closing fourth over 7f latest and now looks to want a mile plus. The others will be finishing too fast for him today but worth noting for lated races over longer trips.
SYN CITY (YOU AND I x NATIVE ROYALTY x STRIKE THE ANVIL)
Three wins from six including a Grade I over 6f but in only a 64sp. Looks like a sprinter and produced his best sp on dirt when running out of steam big time over 7f latest. On his least favoured surface over a trip too far he will struggle today.
ALBA SEA KING(IRE) (KING OF KINGS (IRE) x MR. PROSPECTOR x ROBERTO)
Another with a winand a secondfrom two runs and mid seventies sp’s. His first run over 6f suggested he wanted further while his second suggested he wanted less so hard to tell if he will last home. If he does he will be a danger.
SLEEPING SATELITE (SHAMARDAL x KING OF KINGS (IRE) x SEEKING THE GOLD)
Four wins from five races including two stakes and the manner of his comfortable win over 6.5f latest suggests this trip will be right up his street. Has improved with each run recently and looks the likely winner to me.
SLEW IN A STORM (SAINT LIAM x MR. PROSPECTOR x NORTHERN DANCER)
Two wins from thre races on dirt and some nice sp’s to boot, however doesn’t look like a turf runner on pedigree and looks to want further than his latest 8f run not less. Is the favourite but plenty of reasons to oppose. Could win easily or could hate the turf and bomb.
SISSON’S HOLLOW(GB) (BEAT HOLLOW (GB) x ALHAARTH(IRE) x HABITAT)
Three wins from five but the latest over 7f suggested he wants much further now, maybe even as much as 9f. Closed from the clouds that day and willbe doing the same here but the line will surely come too quick.
OXYKAL(IRE) (KALANISI (IRE) x WOODMAN x ALYDEED)
Nice maiden win latest over 7f on turf and will like the trip but it’s a big ask to come from a maiden win to a graded race at this stage of the season. Loads of promise but might not be up toothis yet.
