Welcome to Longchamp for todays feature the Grade I Maudlin cup for the top milers on turf.
A decent field of ten with at least half the field having a decent chance in what should be a classic renewal of this race.

COACH FOX (WAR CHANT x SEEKING THE GOLD x CAPOTE)
An unusual mix of races so far this year, mostly allowances with a stakes and two graded races thrown in. All bar one have been at a mile but he’s been finishing weakly at that trip. His rn over 6.5f  looked promising but it produced one of his lowest sp’s. He has won his allowances at a mile comfortably and finished those well. Therefore he is either on ofthose horses who just can’t make the tranistion to graded level or he maybe needs that specialist distance of -7-7.5f. Overall then although he has some facy sp’s i’m not sure he can win today. Might hang on for a place.

TRABICCOLO (TALE OF THE CAT x WILD AGAIN x CONCORDE BOUND)
Well this one is 16/1 and with goodreason, norecent stakes runs never mind graded runs and only two recent wins, without breaking the 100sp mark. His best runs have bee at further and he looks a 9-10f horse. Out of his depth today.

TOP JIMMY (PEINTRE CELEBRE (IRE) x VICE REGENT x SHIRLEY  HEIGHTS(GB))
Two recent wins in stakes and graded company but at 9f and 10f, where he’s done most of his running. No doubting his class but his only recent try at a mile was in a stakes and was probably his worst run of the year. This trip seems to short and I can’t see a win. Should stay on for a top five finish.

MIZZEN DIZZIE (MIZZEN MAST x RAHY x RAMBO DANCER)
Some really impressive runs this year with three graded victories at this trip, including a sparkling 111 sp four runs back. Clearly has the class to win this and the best form on offer however his last run was poor, only finishing 12th over his favourite mile with a 93sp. A deserved favourite but that last run is a worry, has he now started a downward curve at five after 32 races ?

UNPRECEDENTED (HANSEL x NUREYEV x RAISE A NATIVE)
This one could be the spanner in the works- has never run on turf but clearly has graded class and seems to like 8-9f best. Has some turf influences in the pedigree but it doesn’y exactly scream turf turf turf. On blance I don’t think he’ll be as effective on turf and will be opposing him today, but if he does handle it he will be very dangerous.

BARB’S BACK HOME (SADLER’S WELLS x KINGMAMBO x SEATTLE SLEW)
Some pedigree, talk about bred in the purple and has some nice recent runs on turf but the best of them have been at 9-10f and this trip looks too short on pedigree and on the manner of his recent runs. Expect him to get behind early and stay on for a top fivefinish but I can’t see atop three place.

HAIL THE LEAF (CARSON CITY x GREEN DESERT x HALO)
Only one recent graded run which porduced a 9th of twelve and an 87sp. Has been struggling to win in allowances and has to be up against it in this company. Will be vying for last place and surely has no chance of the win.

BLESSED ROAD (KINGMAMBO x KRIS S. x SEATTLE SLEW)
Again a lovely pedigree and a nice last run with an allownac win over a mile with a 100sp. Definetely seems better on turf and is not out of this despite the big price. Likes to come from miles back and will be rattling home at the end. Can sneak a top three place.

SLEW CAN (DANZIG x SEATTLE SLEW x MR. PROSPECTOR)
Another stellar pedigree and had some runs to match early in the year, however has become a bit disapointing lately and couldn’t even win a stakes at todays trip latest. He is five and has run forty races now so he may be at the end of his graded career. On the basis of recent form is hard to recommend todat and he could struggle.

PEINTRE INDYMAN (PEINTRE CELEBRE (IRE) x A.P. INDY x RIVERMAN)
Another five year old but with not quite so many runs and some very godd latley without actually getting his head in front. This looks slightly easier than some of his recent reaces and he is a mjor threat. Another who likes to come from the back expect him to lead the cavalry charge of three or four horses closing from the furlong pole. Can sneak home to get that deserved GradeI victory.
