Spotlight Race of the Day 3/20 Ohio Claim

A dirt race  that is open to 3 year old fillies that are non-winners of 4 races in their lifetime.  A mile distance race with eight entered into this $40,000 claiming race which has a bit of a twist that I realized after selecting the race.  Two of the entrants were bred by me, however, I do no longer own either.

1.  Amazing Shoey 6/1-One of the horses I bred is coming off a fifth place finish in last and stumbled to the 80-speed level for the first time.  She likes to run near the front, but failed to do so in last which had impact on results.  While she drops in claiming ranks, she goes up in distance, trying mile for first time.  Any speed improvement makes her a threat.

2  Despite Warrior  16/1-Switched barns at end of year and kicked 2015 off with enhancement in speed numbers into 70-range for first time for new connections, picking up a second and more recently a win.  Moves up in claiming ranks and will re-try a mile distance which was very troublesome to her in her first try.

3.  The Nile Prado  5/2-Speed numbers have been moving upwards over the past several months, but at a very slow pace.  Last four starts were all in 80 range, topping at 83 in last start at mile distance, finishing second after dropping out of allowance to claiming.  Beaten favorite in last looks to make amends this time with better odds.

4.  Missed The Mark  10/1-This is another horse bred by me and is entered by the race sponsor (not me).   Ran a mile once which was back in January notching out career best speed of 77 but finished 8 strides back in non-competitive third.   Last race she finished 7th going 6f, but is a throw away race as she was bothered by off-track conditions.  Back to mile but needs to bring best game.

5.  Queen Solo  9/2-Likely pace setter in this race, this front running lady showed vast improvement when knocked out of allowance to claimers this season.  Has won both claiming starts with big boost in speed from 60’s to the 80’s.  Dips a bit in the claiming level and will try the mile distance for first time.  Capable of making three in a row.

6.  Tenpoint Graduate  4/1-Last five starts have been in claiming class and this lady has finished in the money in each start.  Easy winner in last, going mile for first time with 77 speed and winning by 3 strides over field of CPU runners.  The speed could have been better if she was in a more competitive field.  Late runner could steal this.

7.  Kidding  5/1-Converted over to dirt from grass at start of 2015 and looks to be a good fit.  Will put up a fight on the lead with Queen Solo and brings a win and second on the dirt leading into this race.  Recorded 81 SP in last and nudges distance up a smidge from 7.5f to a mile.  Climbs up the claiming ladder but the dirt speeds look good here.

8.  Slain  5/1-Distance works for this girl who has won twice in three starts at 8 to 8.5 furlongs.  Won last with 79 speed against $20k claimers.  Moves back up in claiming level and has struggled a bit at tail end of 2014 with higher claiming races.

Going with late runner Tenpoint Graduate in this one.  I think the mile will be a good fit.

The Nile Prado should get a piece and fits well in this field.

Queen Solo will be out front, hangs on for third.
