Lone Filly Tropical Lady Takes on the Boys in the Individual Pillow Turf Sprint

This also sond we travel to the  beautiful countrysidein a of Germany for a race on the grass.  Ein a even horses will take to the track at 1:20pm EST going a distance in the f 5 furlongs or 5/8 of a mile. Being a race that is only restricted to 3 yr olds and up, there selectiononly one filly who will be tested by the boys. The race is actually named after Individual Pillow, an 18 yr old horse who was bred by CPU. During his racing career, Pillow won 9 races from 24 starts (4 on dirt and 5 on grass).  The horses have been training all week and I will tell you that I’ve never seen a better bunch of horses. Owners and trainers alike are making sure their horse is fit and trim for this sprint. Racing conditions will be perfect and the course is being listed as firm. I’m excited about meeting the field so let’s get to it.

1.  Barb’s Stuck Here      KY    radarsmansn

This roan colt has quite a few things going for him at this time.  First, he has multiple stakes placings and three wins (which have been at all different tracks). The last time he raced here, he finished 4th (06-07) at a distance of 6.5 furlongs.  Second, he is ranked in 82nd place for turf sprint with a local ranking in Spain of 80. Third, he’s sires by Artie Schiller out of the sim mare Keyport. From looking at his past performances, this colt likes to stalk the pace so I’m not quite sure about the distance here of 5f for him. His last win was at ON (05 -10) in the 7f Root Beer Slammer Turf Dash. I have seen horses winning from the rail but let’s hope that Barb doesn’t get stuck there.

2.  Legendary Heart     IRE      claim4fame      5/1

A 9 yr old brown stallion from the claim4fame barn is certainly the horse to look out for here. He has had jockey M Mason on his back for his last 4 starts which includes a 2nd place finish hrre on 8 -10 in the Cosi Fan Tutte Turf Sprint while posting a 99. Distance certainly not a problem here. I expect Legend to be in top 3 when they cross the finish line. He does have 5 wins, 8 seconds, and 5 thirds from 32 starts on the grass.

3. Driven To Party    JPN    Mj715    12/1

The famous Casino Drive sired this 4 yr old brown colt and is out of the sim mare Partin’ Peeps. His last win was on 6 -21 at NEW in the 6f Allowance for Nw2t and DTP  ran here last time out but finished a disappointing 11th. He is 3 – 1 -1 from 17 starts on the grass and he has to show up on race day to get earn those bragging rights as a stakes winner. He gets jockey J Bradley.

4. Patio De Naranjos    KY     jockeyrobledo36    9/1

Now this colt is another one to look out for when they near the finixh line but he hashasn’t raced at this track since 8 – 08 where he actually broke his maiden in a hot race going 6.5f. He won that race by 3 1/4L and his race record is quite impressive too with 7 – 6 – 2 from 19 starts earning $306,859 on the grass. Patio is ranked at #86 for TS  and he gets jockey M SPENCER for the first time.

5. Polar Light Snow   CAN    twolfqb4

PNow, here’s a colt that I don’t think likes the grass surface but maybe he hasn’t found the right track that he likes. He has one stakes race In which he raced and finished 5th. He does have a win at 5.5f  at BRK  on 3 – 3 – 14. At odds of 27/1 this North Light colt could pull an upset and that would make his owner very happy.

Here’s another colt that’s owned by the same barn that owns Patio. They also own Tigre too.  A 3 yr old colt by Choisir out of the sim mare Why Do I Run is currently ranked at 483 for TS. He has earned $243,215 for his owner and a win here would mean a lot. Campos last raced here on 2 – 08 in the 6f Tortured Vision Dirt Sprint where he finished 7th. This colt has some turf racing in his blood and maybe with the layoff since 8 – 22 -14, he may be fresh enough to steal the show. B llo gets the mount.

7. Tigre De La India     IND      jockeyrobledo3      7/1

Sunday Bright sired this 3 yr old bay colt and he’s out of the sim mare Saskia. Owner jockeyrobledo has three chances to win this race with his 3 entries. Tigre could possibly get the job done , and jockey K Tobley gets the call. He has $289,525 in earnings along with 8 wins on the grass. Not sure where he will finish and he could be a surprise horse. He is ranked at #155.

8. The New King    ENG    SHAGGIENG    6/1

Having turf racing in his blood, this 3 yr old colt sired by New Approach (IRE) out ot the sim mare Boc Dragonball Z hasn’t faired too well on the grass with only 2 wins and earnings of $ 84,835, this might very well be  the horse to pull an upset but the payout wouldn’t be that much. King Iis coming off of a 12th finish at NOR where he earned  a #97. Hopefully we will see a better performance from him.

9. Tropical Lady    FR    Kingssprite2    35/1

Being the only filly in the field, she not only has to prove to her owner that she can beat the boys but she also needs to show them that she can run with the best of them. Being sired by Manduro (GER) out of the sim mare Tropical Reef, she has two stakes races on res resume, the last being on 9 -27 at NOR going 7.5f and finishing in 9th. She gets jockey R Harzheim for the first time so maybe this change will be the ticket,

10.  Non Union    JPN      JBcri33      6/1

Owner JB cri owns the 4 yr old chestnut colt sired by Workforce (GB) out of the sim mare Pigiama has 29 starts (6 – 9 -6). He has raced at this track before on 10 – 6 where he won an allowance at 5f in a field of 5. He has raced overseas and in the United States but has had better success on the grass overseas. Another horse that should be there at the finish.

11. Fantastic Darci   NZ    Mrluck     12/1

Sired by Darci Brahma (NZ)  this 6 yr old chestnut stallion can prove he can race on this track and stay up with the best of them. His last time out was at SWE where he finished 6th some 28 3/4L behind the winner and his last stakes race was on 9 – 20 where he finished 9th in the 9f Rusty Hawk Turf Route. Looking at past races, running in sprint races is better and his owner will probably agree.
