Long Shot Wins Desert Filly Juvenile!
Desert Filly Juvenile Stakes
Grade III
Six furlongs on Fast Dirt
$150,000
Fillies and mares, 2 years old
Like everyone else at the Desert Filly Juvenile here in Dubai this weekend, I didn’t think much of long shot SYMREALITY’s chances in this Grade III race for two year old turf fillies. She certainly showed us what she was made of and made several excited ticket holders and nice little sum of cash.
It wasn’t that SYMREALITY wasn’t contending in her first three races, she had hit the board all three times. She just never raced impressively, usually grabbing the lead and fading at the end. Today, she may have found something that will send her on to bigger and better things when she gamely held on against the challenges of favorites TAILOR MADE and INDESCRIBABLE , who finished 2nd and 3rd. They both were flying down the stretch and looked as if they would overtake the winner but trainer TogaBurt had really been pushing her to learn to finish and it certainly paid off today.
This gives the pretty cream colored filly over $129,000 in earnings and moves her into the top three among dirt two year old fillies. A race like this can be just the thing to really jump start a youngsters career and we will be watching to see if that is exactly what happens!
Good luck to all runners!
