High Roller’s Juvenile-G2

High Roller’s Juvenile

Grade II

Six furlongs

Fast Dirt

$250,000

All horses, 2 years old

Be sure to bring your sunblock for this year’s running of the High Roller’s Juvenile-G2 as 100 degree heat is forcasted for this afternoon’s race.  A full field of 14 have chosen to brave the heat and an equal number of talented runners seem to have entered regardless of their morning line odds.  I have a hard time deciding a winner a winner here and my best advice would be to stay away from betting on this race altogether.  Even the longest odd horse at 22/1 has just an equal chance to find victory and if your brave enough to bet the trifecta you may have a huge “signer” in the makings.

PP 1

15/1 ERMINGTON MATIC

M Cooper ( 367 – 79 – 61 – 54 – 22% )

Traner: pigeon5

2 Year Old Colt (CHARISMATIC x MACHIAVELLIAN x SAINT BALLADO)

Today’s inside post is brought to you by the number one. As in post number one and three first place finishes in as many tries. With a win last time out in The TOM’S DAWN Cap-Stk it seems a slap in the face with the 15/1 odds. He’s one of the few proven colts at the stakes level running today and that win was not an easy one he sat just off the pace and moved strong under a right hand whip. Even with strong competition in this race, he may prove to be the trifecta spoiler in the race as veteran jockey M Cooper seems to see something he likes.

PP 2

6/1 DYNASTORM

B Blythe ( 67 – 3 – 4 – 6 – 4% )

magical

2 Year Old Colt (DYNAFORMER x FORTY NINER x STORM CAT)

Our co-favorite Dynastorm, is coming off a killer race where he put extreme pressure on the leader on to lose in the final 1/8th. Royally bred, he looks to avenge that defeat with a win here today. If he can repeat that 80SR he posted last time out, he stands a good chance of gaining momentum in the battle for two year supremancy. Look for him to take the early lead and with a favorable post posistion he might just wire the field. In question though is the choice in jockey as he draws B Blythe who is nearing retirement age and may be past his prime.

PP 3

7/1 LAGOON OF LOVE(IRE)

W Railey ( 51 – 2 – 7 – 6 – 4% )

wabred

2 Year Old Colt (SWAIN (IRE) x DEPUTY MINISTER x GONE WEST)

As a winner his first time out, Lagoon Of Love has the looks of a horse with plenty of potential. In that one race, he took on a very tough field of maidens that found only two lengths separating the first seven contestants as they entered the backstretch. That battle continued on rounding the turn as this horse has a lot of spirit and more importantly, that competitive edge. He has that look of a fierce competitor and his shear detemination may win the day.

PP 4

13/1 MOZART’S QUEST

S Bailey ( 50 – 0 – 4 – 8 – 0% )

griffeyjr

2 Year Old Colt (CORONADO’S QUEST x UNBRIDLED’S SONG x ALYDAR)

With a total of four races, Mozart’s Quest is the grand-daddy of the bunch. He’s coming off a very close finish last time out in the Queensland Juvenile-Stk where he finished just two lengths off the winner. That race seems to show that he’s ready to show more but superiour breeding seems to grabbing the attention of the betting public. To his credit though is the fact that he has shown some consistency and with so much early speed in the race he will try to overcome several tiring rivals on his way to the winner’s circle.

PP 5

13/1 E BUDA

V Jef ( 338 – 71 – 54 – 47 – 21% )

chop

2 Year Old Colt (E DUBAI x STORM CAT x TANTHEM)

With wins in his two races, E Buda has responded nicely to his training schedule and gives hope to those betting on this long shot. As a grandson of Stormcat, he surely has the early foot to contest for the lead but faces a tough field today. It is his jump in speed and form in his last race that gives credit to his entry here today though. I had a chance to see him in early morning warmups this past weekend and he showed no signs of shyness as he was eager to take to the track. Adding to his chances he nails top jock V Jef who is out to another stellar year.

PP 6

22/1 WHY MARRY

A Allen ( 47 – 2 – 4 – 2 – 4% )

graywolf

2 Year Old Colt (MEDALLIST x BUILT FOR PLEASURE x OLYMPIO)

By freshman sire Medallist, Why Marry may leave you with the question of why not? This sire is off to a hot start despite his cheap fee with 25% winners already. However, he’s yet to produce a stake winner 5 months into the season but this colt may be his best hope yet. Although he’s 2-for-4 he has never finished further back than 1 1/4 lengths and shows more than his odds may first seem. His last two races are up to par with even the best of the field and he just barely lost at the wire in his last start in The TIMELESS DOLLAR Special-Stk where he ran out of real estate. As one of the few deep closers he may benefit if a slow pace ensues.

PP 7

6/1 DIXIELAND WELLS

F Holmes ( 291 – 38 – 29 – 46 – 13% )

pedroza

2 Year Old Colt (DIXIELAND BAND x A.P. INDY x MR. PROSPECTOR)

Fate has played a hand here as Dixieland Wells looks to avenge his last performance. In three races he’s come up just short in two of them with a combined losing total of 1 3/4 lengths. His main advantage is his consistency as many two year olds often jump and down in performance. Depending on the pace you may see him running away with the trophy or coming just short again. However, I’m one to believe that if he was to make a move backwards, he would have done it already. It will all come down to a battle of will it seems.

PP 8

9/1 TIMELESS EVENT

W Peete ( 52 – 3 – 8 – 9 – 6% )

reddog

2 Year Old Colt (RED BULLET x FORESTRY x A.P. INDY)

Two races and two wins; what else could you ask for. Timeless Event made a dramatic improvement from his previous race and now trainer reddog points his colt with a very decent chance of grabbing the win here. This colt looks extremely big for his age as he stands a clear 1 1/2 hands over his closest competitor. Seemingly built for speed, he may find the track and distance to his likings but will have to contend with others that will fight him for the lead. This race will prove whether or not he has the stamina to remain truely competitive at this level.

PP 9

7/1 MOJAVE COUNTY

R Parrish ( 116 – 18 – 16 – 11 – 16% )

roys

2 Year Old Colt (SAINT LIAM x SEEKING THE GOLD x SECRETARIAT)

Normally, I’m not one to put much faith in owner restricted races but Mojave County has certainly proved that he has the makings of colt ready to explode. After two successfull races in the freshman sire series, this Saint Liam colt kind of grabs your attention. Perhaps more of a true miler, it’s still to early to judge how he perform her today but given his last two performances he may have more to say before this year is done. I believe that he will give more than what is expected and surprise a few in the end.

PP 10

11/1 ADHESIVE

T Fishback ( 85 – 11 – 4 – 13 – 13% )

thebaker2

2 Year Old Colt (COZZENE x WOODMAN x MISWAKI)

Grab my money or stuff it in my pocket. I’m back and forth with this colt. In his two races he climbed a dramatic 16 point in speed ratings while pulling off wins in both races. Now, either he driven with that competitive spirit that no horse will get the best of him or he just everyones best friend and the trip around the track is more of recess time and this is all a game. It kind of reminds me of trying to play to pool with my wife. Assuming that it has more to do with knocking off the green on him he just might surprise even the best of verteran handicappers.

PP 11

10/1 SILVER EARNS GOLD

W Robinson ( 164 – 16 – 15 – 14 – 10% )

trackfeats

2 Year Old Colt (EUROSILVER x DEPUTY MINISTER x SECRETARIAT)

At first glance, Silver Earns Gold may look like a middle linebacker as, on paper, he show a willingness to battle it out in close quarters. However, after looking at the replays of his two starts you find a horse that seems to adjust to the moment and in a very un-two year old fashion, a sense of maturity by responding to the jockey’s command. Although jockey W Robinson is not having quite the year he’s accustommed to, he is still having a decent year and with 11 years experince on the track he may be answer here today.

PP 12

17/1 THEO’S BOLD GREELY

C Maddocks ( 49 – 3 – 5 – 7 – 6% )

theodore15

2 Year Old Colt (MR. GREELEY x BOLD REASON x BOLD REASONING)

Hopefully the change in feed has worked with Theo’s Bold Greely as trainer theodore15 was not happy with his colt’s last run. In that last race in The TOM’S DAWN Cap-Stk he raced evenly as he stayed close to the pace but failed to fire when asked. This could be another example of a two year old who may take a while to mature. He is a winner of two of three races so you can’t fault him for his entry here but you still have to ask yourself if he’s ready for the big show just yet. He’ll have to give a lot more to grab my attention and a place on my trifecta ticket.

PP 13

10/1 MISS ME YET

N Paslay ( 46 – 3 – 3 – 5 – 7% )

metfield

2 Year Old Colt (GOLDEN MISSILE x CAPOTE x CURE THE BLUES)

Breaking out of unlucky gate #13, Miss Me Yet is another colt coming off a win first time out and killed the competition in the process. In his one race, he stalked the pace and then took over even after a high pressured pace. His win looks closer than it actually was as he was hand ridden the last 1/4 mile. He may find the goings a bit tougher here today as many will look to have the same form and with an outside post he’ll have a tough time gaining the early lead that he had in his last race. What needs to be addressed is whether or not he can now stalk a pace and close when asked.

PP 14

13/1 LUCKY’S CAPITAL

S Flint ( 51 – 5 – 6 – 1 – 10% )

winorplace

2 Year Old Colt (WITH APPROVAL x KRIS(GB) x DAMASCUS)

Even at 13/1 odds, Lucky Capital is no pretender. As a winner in his last two starts, he comes riding high and ready to prove more. Although he just about evened out in his two past performances, he shouldn’t be overlooked by trainer winorplace if he doesn’t perform. This colt may have his best after the New Year but still could prove a fomidable foe here. His last two races show a level that many breeders and trainers hope for with their two year olds and I am assuming that this is not the last time you’ll see his name in the BTB.
