The Little Ones Juvenile Filly Stakes
Grade II
Five and a Half Furlongs on Firm Turf
$250,000
Fillies and mares, 2 years old
I love watching the young turf fillies and we’ve got some promising ladies here. We’ve got a nicely matched field though there are only seven horses entered. It is truly anybody’s race so let’s take a look:
| 1 – PANDORITA | ODDS | OWNER | WIN% | JOCKEY | WIN% | TOP SPEED | AVG SPEED | RANK |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 9/2 | Bellissimo | 17.2% | B.Wu | 22% | 73.5 | 69.9 | 48 |
This Cat Thief filly has shown nice improvement on the grass after trying a turn on the dirt two back. Trainer Bellissimo looks to be training her well by giving her a look at different surfaces and distances in her young career. She has a first and two seconds in those three and loves the lead which will work well from the inside post. Jockey Wu is in the irons and is one of this tracks hottest jockeys and is known for handling juveniles. This could be a tough team to beat.
| 2 – MT.NOBLIYEV(IRE) | ODDS | OWNER | WIN% | JOCKEY | WIN% | TOP SPEED | AVG SPEED | RANK |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5/1 | IrishCrown | 18.0% | S.Graff | 17% | N/A | N/A | N/A |
First time on the grass for this Fasliyev out of Doctor Crabby filly. After a sterling start with a win and sizzling 84 SPF in her first of three races, she fell back the last two and gave a lackluster effort last time out with a 58 SPF. Hence the turf try by IrishCrown who has to be pulling his hair out about this youngsters career start. Jockey Graff has looked good this year and should be able to bring this young lady back into focus.
| 3 – VENGEFUL PRAYER | ODDS | OWNER | WIN% | JOCKEY | WIN% | TOP SPEED | AVG SPEED | RANK |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5/1 | PazPrayer | 4.3% | V.McMahon | 9% | N/A | N/A | 43 |
Another interesting surface switch as Trainer PazPrayer has the number 15 ranked dirt sprinter and is trying her on the grass. This Hennessy out of Vengeful Squire has thrown some nice SPFs and looked good in her first three but looks like her breeding screams dirt. Jockey McMahan has struggled some this year but is capable of pulling out a big one. It will be interesting to see what this talented filly can do on the green, green grass of Europe.
| 4 – KEPLER OF RAINBOW | ODDS | OWNER | WIN% | JOCKEY | WIN% | TOP SPEED | AVG SPEED | RANK |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 7/2 | Bobo | 27.3% | B.Thedog | 11% | 73.0 | 72.6 | 28 |
First Stakes outing for this pretty chestnut filly but what’s not to like. Two for two with wins in both outings and consistent low 70’s SPFs. The Rainbow Quest out of Laguinilla filly seems to love the grass and also loves the lead. There should be plenty of early speed in this race which may throw a few problems at both trainer Bobo and jockey Thedog. They will have to figure when to turn this filly loose in a small field. Both are capable of getting it done and this could be your winner.
| 5 – WHISPERING CANYON(BRZ) | ODDS | OWNER | WIN% | JOCKEY | WIN% | TOP SPEED | AVG SPEED | RANK |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 7/1 | Chapin | 11.1% | H.Wood | 7% | 67.3 | 67.3 | N/A |
Possibly the most successful offspring of Brazilian freshman sire Leroidesanimaux, this big filly won her maiden in nice fashion with a 67 SPF and a wire to wire win. This will only be her second race and trainer Chapin is looking for some nice improvement which would put her in the thick of things here. Things will certainly be interesting at the front of the field with all of this early speed, it may look like a jailbreak at the bell.
| 6 – IRRITAITING(GB) | ODDS | OWNER | WIN% | JOCKEY | WIN% | TOP SPEED | AVG SPEED | RANK |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 7/1 | Corza | 5.4% | J.Neihbors | 7% | 70.5 | 70.5 | 111 |
Another filly from a freshman sire, this time it is British bred Footstepsinthesand. It is a bit hard to gauge how this young lady will do as she has only run one race and it was on an off track and she came in second with a nice 70 SPF. Is she a turfer? Does she just like off tracks? Who knows? Trainer Corza is pushing her a bit by putting her up in this class but if she can improve on that last race she will be one of the frontrunners at the finish. Stay tuned!
| 7 – DANCE WITH DANGER | ODDS | OWNER | WIN% | JOCKEY | WIN% | TOP SPEED | AVG SPEED | RANK |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5/2 | Wabred | 22.2% | C.Cleland | 7% | 70.8 | 70.8 | N/A |
This Red Bullet filly is undefeated…in her one and only race. She had a good showing though with a quick 70 SPF at 6 furlongs. Trainer Wabred knows what he is doing as evidenced by his nice win percentage and he has a very nicely bred youngster that looked good in her first race. If she can overcome the outside post and the fact that she is yet another frontrunner, she should compete here.
Morning Line = 7-4-1-2-3
Yoss Tipsheet = 4-3-1-6
Paz Picks = 4-7-1-3
A fairly even race with some really nice looking young fillies, I like VENGEFUL PRAYER to finish fourth. I don’t really think that she is made for the grass but should compete anyway. PANDORITA could actually win this race, especially with Wu on board but I am going to put her third. I’m worried about all of the rabbits in this race but one of them has to contend so I am putting DANCE WITH DANGER second and that leaves KEPLER OF RAINBOW to hold on for the win by a neck. I’m really worried about not putting – IRRITAITING on my board but I ran out of room!
Good luck to all runners!
